Best Gates quality in Special Drive

Smooth and quiet. The 96 Jeep 5.2 Grand Cherokee had to remove the dust cover that was used on the old pulley. On this one it is not needed and causes a squeak. Read the package in the fine print, it mentions this for some jobs.

Bleeder Lubricant suitable for belts, hoses and pulleys

IR Ag Mechanic. Installed on a Dodge Dakota 94 5.2 mag 15 Jul 19 ran out of lube on 29 Jul 19! The sign is still there! I have been using Gates hoses for many years and they have always worked well. Maybe outsourcing isn't so good after all? Or did I get a not very good role? Or changed the wording of the shield or lube?

good fit / easy installation / discreet approval

easy installation in Transporter 01 Dodge B3500, 5.9 liter engine. I'm watching closely. After installation, I put a stethoscope to the tensioner and noticed a low growl. I don't know if the tensioner or the pulley is noisy. If the pulley fails within the next few thousand miles I will update this post.

Pros
  • nice item
Cons
  • dubious purchase for the elderly

Healed my rattling noise

I used this in a '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.2 liter V8 engine. I just replaced the idler pulley and decided to check the tensioner. Although it turned very freely, it made a noise when turning, as if there was too much play in the bearing and no lubrication. After replacing the belt pulley, the "rattling" that has been heard from the engine for years is gone.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Everything is great
