Arrived with a creak! best in Engine Parts

This product started squeaking when we installed it in the car, it was too late for the return period. If the seller or manufacturer wants to replace it I will change my rating.

Another quality product from Gates

Gates is an OEM to many manufacturers for a reason. 100,000 miles on my 2005 Chevrolet 4.8L. I didn't *need* to replace the tensioner assembly but decided to do so based on age and mileage. I always use Gates and can confidently support their products with over 20 years of mechanical experience. It was the perfect fit/function piece. No questions. Just replace. Always check these points when replacing belts.

Accurate call for OEM part, easy installation.

I bought this for GenIII GM 5.3L V8 engine. Installation was easy - just unscrew the three screws holding the old one to the block and reinstall. Some inlet pipes can get in the way, so remove them if necessary. My block is aluminum so I lubricated the bolts with blue Loctite to keep them from coming out. It appears identical to the original block that was on the engine - even the lines on the molding are the same.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Goes perfectly with my 05 Escalade

Arrived quickly, in like new condition. It looks just like the original. Be extra careful when tightening the screws as aluminum breaks very easily - this happened on the original. I used a chisel to turn the fan, which was key to keeping this project simple. Without doing this first, it wasn't easy to loosen things enough to get the strap in, but once I figured it out, it was easy. Has been working flawlessly for several months.

  • Satisfied so far

Nice piece, if not as solid as the AC Delco.

Just completely discontinued my Chevy Tahoe 03. Belts, tensioners, cables, spark plugs etc. They were in stock and Delco was out of stock and the reviews were good so I bought this (main engine belt tensioner) and another AC belt tensioner. Both fit perfectly, both are quiet (stock was 220k) and have no issues. Installation took 10 minutes and 3 15mm screws. I think they'll do their job well, but they're built differently, maybe cheaper, maybe better, I don't know, but the lightness struck me…
