They work well but should last longer.

I repaired the same lamp 5-6 years ago, I believe it is the same product and I will have to replace it again. It works great, but an old school outlet would have taken a few decades. Having the GE brand name could mean something as hopefully they have enough pride to ensure they are manufactured to an appropriate level of quality. But I think it should have taken longer.

Had a troublesome 3 position switch in my favorite floor lamp

I bought this two piece set to replace a troublesome 3 position switch in a floor lamp I like . It was easy to unplug the power cord from the wall, remove the broken switch base, install a replacement, and reassemble the lamp. A very easy DIY project. Note that the strip/ribbed wire of the two-pin lamp cord is "neutral" or "reverse" and must be connected to the silver screw. The smooth wire is "hot" and needs to be connected with a brass screw. There is a video on YouTube for reference. I am…

    And then there was light

I have some very old and very expensive brass and cloisonné lamps that burn out all the time. It was clear that I had to do something about it - at least new power cords and new sockets. I chose a GE product from the Revain range because I wanted known reliability. It was a good choice as I was in the process of moving away from incandescent bulbs and going to very expensive LEDs. This socket saved my day and now my lightbulbs work well and reliably and I'm not afraid they will burn my…

    Simple, reliable and no surprises

I used this to replace a broken three position switch in a living room light. The design of this part is better than what I took out. The metal was heavier. Unlike the plug and play type, there are screws for attaching wires. This speaks to its advantages. Properly made screw connectors hold tight and conduct electricity well. And since I see it, I understand better what is happening with the connection. The instructions are simple and easy to use. I used a kitchen knife to strip the wires a…

The outlet is in my electrician

I replaced one that failed in two years and this one was easy to install. We use 3 way LED bulbs and they seem to be working fine. I have some reservations about durability as it can be difficult to spin so I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Will be updated if it's excellent or fails in the future. Update 15/04/20 Yes, it broke pretty quickly considering the lamp is only used once a day or so. I think two years or less might be the limit for these switches, so downgraded to three stars for…

Works like a charm in lamp sockets

This device gives you more than you really need. It comes with all the individual parts; It's a base, a socket, and a real three-position switch. When I received it, I realized I just had to replace the switch itself. So I disassembled the existing block by unscrewing the socket from the base, pulled the switch out of the socket, replaced the switch (extremely easy) and reassembled the existing block. Works great. My existing knob fits this unit so my lamps fit perfectly. The base and sleeve in

Today I installed two of these plugs without any problems

Today I personally installed two of these plugs - for the first time! If I had a wire stripper I could do it a lot faster. I plan on ordering some wire strippers as I want to replace some of the other outlets my husband ruined by putting 250w bulbs in them. The lamps still worked, but the bulbs burned out very quickly and often with a loud bang. Before I started, I searched YouTube for instructions on how to do this; I just wanted to add to the instructions that come with these sockets. This…
