Very nice good lever

I am a leveling specialist and need long lever tools and they are great, they look great and come in a nice blown case that fits perfectly in my tool drawer . Very durable.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • There are cons

Not as pretty as Armstrong.

I bought these to fill the larger sizes for my double Armstrong ratchet box set. The Armstrong brand was discontinued. The best I can say about them is that they are longer than the Armstrong kit they claim to replace. The beams are a little sharp and of lower quality than Armstrong's keys. I think they will work fine, just not what I expected.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons

Very long keys. Lots of torque. Nice addition to the 85988C set.

I bought this set to expand my 85988C set. (12 metric and 9 SAE keys). They are very long. I couldn't fit them in my drawers on my tool box. Sizes 20, 21, 22, 24 and 25mm. I don't even think GearWrench makes a 23mm wrench in this style. (That should be a pretty good size to skip) I love that it's 20mm. I rarely need 20mm but my other kits are missing 20mm so nice to have. They are definitely not 120xp or 120 positions in the ratchet. They feel more like a 60's. (I didn't really count) Theโ€ฆ

Life really sucked before these buttons

These buttons are very big but damn they do the job. The ratchet is smooth and the angleless end provides a fantastic torque advantage when loosening frozen nuts and bolts. The only error I could think of on this point is how BIG the case is; It's not the most efficient use of space in the world (they could halve the size of the suitcase if they put the keys to the side). You either need a very large tool box that fits in your suitcase, or you just need to find another way to store yourโ€ฆ

Overall ok - Hand tools

I have metric and SAE sets in regular and extended sizes. I'm trying really hard to like these wrenches, but in general I might be too snobby to love them. I'll state the pros and cons (this applies to all Gearwrench (GW) long double ring wrench sets): PROS: 1) Reasonable price 2) Good chrome and finish 3) Good bracket (fits perfectly in toolbox drawers) 4) B In general, seems OKCONS to work: 1) The keys just aren't thick or strong enough. They bend and flex everywhere (especially the smallerโ€ฆ

Too many finish imperfections right out of the box

I love Gearwrench and have used it almost exclusively for wrenches for the last 5-10 years. However lately I feel like their quality control isn't the same anymore. I have just received these keys and they all have polished surface defects, particularly under the solid closed ends. The ratchet ends also seem to have too much play (which may or may not improve with use). Three stars because otherwise they look like a decent wrench for the money and come in a very nice case. Combination wrenches are generally fine

I have both regular and oversize metric and SAE sets. I'm trying really hard to like these wrenches, but in general I might be too snobby to love them.
