Works as expected in AM products

This works great with my Prusa i3 mk3s which is what I expected as the Prusa i3 comes with a 0.4mm E3D nozzle. This tip worked flawlessly with everything I typed. Note. I've only used this nozzle size with PLA, so I can't confirm how it performs with different materials.

There is no substitute for the real thing.

I've been using clone nozzles for about a year while fine-tuning my homemade 3D printer. You can get by with a lot of cloned hardware (heatsink, heater block, extruder), but I've come to the conclusion that nozzles (and thermal brakes) are critical to the real deal. Of course you can buy 10 nozzles for the price of an original e3d V6 nozzle, but do you really want to change it more than 10 times when you can buy a good nozzle and it will last twice as long? I do not think so.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Other interesting options are available.

There are tradeoffs in using a smaller nozzle, but the increase in resolution is quite stunning and well worth it for detail oriented printing. You have a higher risk of nozzle clogging, which cannot be avoided. . They also have much slower print times for the same volume. Eventually, your prints won't be as strong structurally. *Tip: You will need to adjust a few settings when switching between this and the default 0.4mm nozzle, mainly temperature, throughput percentage / extruder steps and…
