Check Fuel Cap light did not go out

Fits my 2009 Honda Civic. My husband installed it in minutes. We replaced the original cap because the 'check fuel cap' light came on, this kept it on for a couple of weeks, but unfortunately it came on again and the engine light came on with the code for that system. It looks just like the original gas cap that came with the car but didn't solve our problem.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Interchangeable

This is the one! Best parts

Previously bought another cover saying it was for a Honda CRV. It fit, but wasn't screwed on tight enough. It kept turning off my sensor. My mechanic said only the original part would fit and I might have to get it from the dealer. I don't like to buy from (overpriced) dealers so I was looking for more. That's when I came across this hat. It fits my 2015 Honda CRV perfectly and I haven't had any more problems with the sensor.

Pros
  • Pleasant

Keep this square holder or go to the dealer

Perfect fit and original equipment for my 2013 Honda Crosstour. You need to carefully remove and keep the small square holder. They also have a video explaining how to remove the plastic retainer and open it up to accommodate the round end of your new gas cap's cable... it's easy. I used a screwdriver to gently push one tab at a time and pull on the other end, after which the square plastic bracket needs to be opened carefully like a clam. The retainer is a shell-like clip that holds the…

Genuine Honda Parts, Replacement Tips.

Original part, in Honda packaging and the seller (autopartexperts) sent it quickly. You must be careful and patient to remove the clamp (fuel cap) that secures the fuel tank cable. Lid. Two spring tabs inside the clip. First, one on the bottom, push it in/up before you can slide the clip out of the metal fuel filler door. You will see that the clip is a clip and there is a second tab on the side. Push it down a little before you can open the clip. And then you can let go of the cable and put…

Easy to replace EXCEPT Gap Lock

Product: Looks and feels like an OEM gas cap with a different internal valve. Oof! Value: By investing 36.00 I avoided a potential visit to a retailer who knows how much it will cost! All in all, the new cap tightens with just three clicks of the ratchet, as opposed to a 9+ year old. an old OEM cap that would have literally taken 10 clicks. Apparently after 9.5 years the ratchet part of the cap has weakened to the point where the seal no longer works and hence the fault. You will need to use…

Excellent OEM Honda product - no error messages

Don't waste your time, fuel and sanity with non-genuine gas caps. Even though they fit really well, I kept getting "Check gas cap" messages on my dashboard. I ended up going back to the parts store and replacing it with another one only to have the message appear again a few weeks later. Do not post fuel cap error codes on my dashboard. Please note that you will need to remove and reuse the attachment point on the gas door. This gas cap comes with a tether but not the new attachment point. You…

A way to fit an original Honda gas cap

I installed this on a 2009 Honda CR-V. Having no experience with this, the Q&A wasn't very helpful and I couldn't find any instructions online. I'm not sure if this is the right way, but it worked for me. Useful tools: small hooked pliers and a small flathead screwdriver. Step 1: Open the fuel cap compartment door. With the bay door fully open, look at the small black box that attaches the plastic tank cap cable to the bay door. If you look straight down you'll see that it goes through the…
