Aluminum is the way to go!

As an avid gardener, I've gone through at least a dozen trowels and greatly prefer aluminum over iron/steel tools for their increased durability. For one thing, aluminum will never rust. The soil on our property is heavy clay or hardpan, so my tools take a lot of punishment.A set of aluminum Fiskars hand tools I bought for my mom more than 10 years ago is still in service, whereas multiple steel trowels I've had broke at the handle. I like that this tool is one piece. It's more like a scoop…

Pros
  • Dig planting holes with ease, no matter how hard-packed the soil
Cons
  • May not be sharp enough to cut through tough soil

Nicest small hand tool set I have ever used!

My kids had taken a liking to my small hand tools like these. And they are perpetually left outside near their dirt digging play area or the sandbox. They turned to junk. This set is so much nicer than what I had, and they won’t rust! They also cleanup really well right now with a quick rinse. The tool being one piece with the handle is a feature you really want in a little flowerbed tool set. The wooden handle ones always get loose as time goes on and eventually separate. I don’t see that issue

Pros
  • Gives you the freedom to garden anywhere, at any time
Cons
  • May not be able to handle digging in sandy soil

Way better than my old heavy metal set

I used to use heavy black metal garden tools. First of all, sadly l, I used to lose them in the dirt. These are great because I can always see them. They are also very lightweight which is awesome. They have a nice grip, the measuring on the shovel has proven to be very useful for planting seeds properly. I am a huge fan and plan to never switch back if I can help it.

Pros
  • It is great for scooping up potting soil as you can really move a good deal of soil at a time.
Cons
  • May require frequent sharpening

The tool that I have been missing

Review for: PortableAnd Garden Tools Hand Weed Puller Heavy Duty One-Piece Cast-Aluminum Lightweight Garden Hand Weeder with Ergonomic Grip (Metallic Yellow)I feel like this is the one tool that my gardening cart has been missing. I struggle to pull weeds or grass that have deep roots, often breaking them in the process and leaving root bits that will grow again. With this tool I am able to pull the weed up without digging into it with my fingernails. If I push the tool just under the surface…

Pros
  • Sure there are cheaper garden tools…and they are pieces of junk! These are built to last!
Cons
  • Not easy to dig with or grip. Hurts hand, blisters

Best for scooping potting soil

I like the feel of this in my hand. Comfortable and sturdy. I like that it is constructed of one piece, no seams to catch dirt or act as weak points. It has a non stick coating too so dirt slides off easy and it cleans up in a snap. This PortableAnd hand trowel is great for scooping up potting soil as you can really move a good deal of soil at a time. What I didn't care for is the lack of a point. This is not good for digging holes for planting. The tip is a bit too rounded to get into the…

Pros
  • This is the best item for getting up the weeds with the roots.Love it
Cons
  • Can be difficult to clean

Very nice tool set!

These tools are very well designed and comfortable to hold. The "weeder" is a different design and not something I had used before, and I like it! Very useful. There are a few small imperfections (bubbles) in the finish, but the tools are very nicely made and finished. I have been using an assortment of mismatched tools acquired over the years, and this matched set makes me feel like a Real Live Grownup! I love a good tool, and I love a good SET of tools even more. This set is packaged nicely…

Pros
  • Suitable for use in garden beds or containers
Cons
  • May be prone to breaking

Better for mild weeding

Our yard has so many weeds. I mean, SO many weeds. We weedwhack, we Round-up (not my favorite because chemicals), we mow, we pluck. They always come back in full force and it's most likely due to the fact we don't weed on a regular or frequent enough basis. This weeder does make it pretty easy since we're using a tool to dig them out, but it's not great for using for long durations because your hand will get tired. It will feel like it's flexing a little under extra pressure as well. This is…

Pros
  • Time-saving tool that makes garden work more efficient
Cons
  • May not be suitable for gardening in rocky terrain

The metal in this scoop is nicely finished and very smooth to glide through the soil and to release the soil when you dump it out. The handle feels comfortable in the hand, so good ergonomic design was important. This is a simple tool, but I learned long ago that cheaply made tools, even if they are just something basic, quickly become an aggravation. This trowel feels like excellent quality that should last well.

Pros
  • Bent-proof construction ensures no breakage when digging through tough soil
Cons
  • May tire out the user's hand quickly

Tough and sturdy! in my review

If you are a gardener, you know the frustration that comes with having lousy gardening tools, especially a trowel that gets a lot of use. I have broken so many trowels. For those of us that in areas with poor soil it can be a challenge when trying to dig a hole. Here in North Carolina we have clay soil, it is hard as can be and when it gets wet it will stick to your shovel, trowel, rake etc. Most of my garden areas have been amended with good soil and I have a lot of raised beds. The Portable…

Pros
  • Large and extremely sturdy. It’s an awesome trowel!!
Cons
  • Plastic handle may wear down quickly

Super comfortable, but a bit too thick for some jobs.

These garden tools are built to last and to use.The handles are super comfortable, with a solid grip. And they are one piece with the working part of the tool so the handles are not going to separate like typical wood handles do from metal tools. The tools are very strong and should last for years. My only complaint is that the edges of these tools are much thicker than most garden tools, causing them to have difficulty breaking though hard dirt or clay, and more likely to get jammed between…

Pros
  • gREAT VALUE AND A GREAT GIFTABLE ITEM FOR SOMEONE WHO LIKES TO GARDEN
Cons
  • Not ideal for planting in rocky soil

Heavy Duty, Light Weight (a product as described!)

This garden tool set is very impressive. As described, it's heavy duty and light weight. The handles are really nicely sized for easy gripping, and they're aluminum-- not going to be rusting or wasting away any time soon.Functionally, they're also great-- if you've ever had a shovel thats just too thick, so that it becomes clumsy to dig, or a "stick tool" that requires clearance, you can get the picture. They are definitely thicker than your common steel (or whatever THIN metal they use for…

Pros
  • One-piece Design: Made from Cast-Aluminum, making it highly reliable, So that it is Bend-proof, Unbreakable.
Cons
  • May be uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time

Light weight but heavy duty

I was hesitant in ordering aluminum, I have not had luck in the past. I’ve been using stainless steel but often the steel outlives the handle. These molded aluminum tools are great. Lightweight but surprisingly strong. I have no fear that these will break, bend or warp. Since each tool is just one single piece of metal they are very comfortable to hold.I extremely satisfied with the strength of these tools. Works wonderfully in Sacramento’s hard clay.

Pros
  • Saves space in your gardening tool collection
Cons
  • May be prone to bending with frequent use

I “ dig “ this ! 😉 Good tool and a good price !

Yeah, I agree, this is a nice little trowel. It’s big and it’s one piece aluminum, so it will last good while. It’s lightweight and it’s yellow, which is important to me as my wife leaves our garden tools all over our 3 acres. Maybe I can find this one easier 😂. It’s not pointy for digging, but for scooping dirt and filling pots or working in loose dirt , it will be perfect. And it’s a reasonable price if you care about having your tools for years. Their ebay page has a variety of one-piece…

Pros
  • Comes equipped with a handy hole in the handle for easy storage
Cons
  • May require extra force to penetrate soil

Great garden tool set.

I'm far from a green thumb, but this set of garden hand tools is exactly what I was looking for. They're lightweight, with comfortable handles, and made from a continuous piece of cast aluminum so I don't have to worry about the handles breaking off. This also makes them really easy to clean! Used them to prep the yard to plant some pumpkin seeds and they worked great. Recommended.

Pros
  • Durable and strong enough for use by both beginner and advanced gardeners
Cons
  • May not be comfortable to hold for left-handed users

I spent a day in the garden with this trowel and it was easy to hold, easy to use, and was "just the right size".I especially liked the one-piece design, so I am confident that the handle won't fall off like others I've had in the past. And, I like the curve of the trowel so that it scoops just the right amount.

Pros
  • Great, large scoop hand shovel. Feels sturdy. Solid, one piece design. Smooth coating over metal.
Cons
  • May not be durable enough for long-term use

Literally Solid Hand Trowel with a Comfortable Grip

Where has this been in all my inground sprinkler repairing life? Chasing one bad sprinkler after another in our compacted and root filled soil has been too much for a parade of what we thought were tough trowels. The trowel is over 5/16 on an inch thick of solid aluminum where the handle meets the shovel at its thinnest point. There will be no metal fatigue here. Just potting and digging power.Credit to the big and comfortable handle which will make for longer digging or potting time before the…

Pros
  • The small hole in the handle: Makes it easy to store and hang when not in use.
Cons
  • May not offer enough grip

Very Solid! best in my review

I love that this is one piece. Every other trowel I've bought has had issues with the handle eventually. But this trowel has no thin spots, no weak welds, no hollow plastic. It's nice and simple and SOLID.I could do without the rubber inlays, but even those seem unlikely to fail. I tried to pull off the rubber part, just to see if I could. I couldn't.

Pros
  • 2.33 pounds
Cons
  • May not be able to handle wet soil

Great gardening tools!

These appear to be very well built and feel great in the hand. Would highly recommend. Will update this review if there is any longevity issues with these.

Pros
  • port130
Cons
  • May not be sturdy enough for frequent use

Great garden set on my review.

I absolutely love that this garden set has the exact pieces you need for a beginner gardener, and they are high quality pieces. Its all one piece of metal, so there is no worry about the handle falling apart from the main piece. It is definitely good quality material, and has worked out well for us. It would be great as a gift to someone as well.

Pros
  • Ergonomic handle reduces stress on hands during extended use
Cons
  • May not be suitable for planting bulbs

Good for digging out weeds, unfortunately

The good news is that this tool works well to remove weeds from my lawn. The bad news is that they keep coming back. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Patio, Lawn & Garden
Cons
  • May not be long enough for deep planting
