I use this meat grinder to shred raw chicken necks to feed my dog. So he has to grind gristle, small bones, meat, fat and skin. Handles everything with no problems. It disassembles quickly for cleaning and stays in place with a suction press with fairly vigorous grinding. The only slight downside compared to the previous metal versions I've used is that the chunks fed into it have to be less than ¾ inch to get into the auger, which pushes the chunks forward towards the shredding section.

I bought this without hesitation because one of my favorite grocery sites - Serious Eats - told me to. HUGE MISTAKE. This thing doesn't grind meat. After spending 3 hours in the kitchen, grinding as hard as possible, disassembling and reassembling this appliance multiple times to get the stuck meat out, and trying unsuccessfully to keep the suction cup in place, I was left with just enough meat for 4 miserable burgers. .
