plug and play; Works like a charm

If you don't have an ethernet port: like a Chromebook (I have 2): or if you have problems with the ethernet port. When connected to a USB 3.0 port on my Chromebooks, the speed test works the same as it does on other wired Ethernet devices.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Upgradable

Works great with Wireshark

Tested on both Windows 10 and Kali 2019.3, works well on direct packet capture and works with Throwing Star LAN Tap. The device is fairly thin, making it easy to free up space in an already crowded bag. The build quality seems pretty good, much better than what you would expect for the price.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Fix

works perfectly! plug and play

Great device! No driver required, plug and play in Windows 10, both ports plug and play at gigabit speeds, simultaneously and error-free. After about 30 minutes, the device hardly warmed up, and that with stable file transfer. I will use to connect to the server. Very well made from hard plastic. Good packaging, complete with instruction manual and CD.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • No Power

It works perfectly - what more could you ask for?

My large desk is surrounded by sound equipment and there are many heavy things on it. So when the NIC failed (lost network connection to the router), I was faced with the daunting task of destroying this entire system just to get to the case, flip it over, and swap out the NIC. I found this V-Top USB 3.0 network adapter, ordered it and plugged it into a free 3.0 port. Driver installation was automatic (Win7Pro) and that's it, now I have not one but two new ethernet ports as well as a handy…

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Something different

Port 2 keeps disconnecting/reconnecting

I bought this adapter a while back and just recently started setting up a Raspberry Pi based router. It looks so nice when booting up, but after 2 minutes the second port starts to "flicker", disconnecting and later reconnecting to the device connected to it. Port as disconnected from the USB host (the adapter uses a connection to the USB host) so I don't really know what to make of it. The first port (eth0) is stable and working as expected, but mine expects two ports to be fully functional…

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • pisses me off
