I have tried several wire sizes from 18 to 22 gauge. This is a very random guess as to whether the connection will be error-free most of the time. I tried using an old wire with thicker insulation. So I got a new cable. And there were the same results. I spent a lot of time getting them to work so the wires still didn't work.

We bought these to replace the one that failed under the cabinet light in our kitchen. I doubted it would fit properly as the contact points on this particular LED strip were very, very small. It helps to pull on them while you clamp them from the side of the LED to create a slightly more secure connection. Others had problems, but they helped me.

I've used them on forty LED strips and each one worked great. Only two of these didn't work the first time, but I just uninstalled and reconnected them and they worked. This is GREAT! The connection with the LED strip is very easy - just cut along the markings and attach, no problem. Now it was a little more difficult with the other end - when connecting to the wires, it hit haphazardly. I've found that the best way to make a secure connection is to strip the wire before closing the clamp.
