📸 Official GoPro Accessory: Protective Lens Replacement for GoPro HERO7 Black Camera Review

Purchased for Hero 6 Black - different color than Case 6 but whatever - it fits perfectly and was cheaper than a similar product at Revain designed for 6. No worries and higher estimates.

This is a GoPro original item, but not easy to install. Remember that it is airtight and watertight. So it will take some effort to remove the old one from the GoPro. The trick is to grab your lower body. and index finger while simultaneously pulling up and rotating counterclockwise. You can find it on YouTube.

My GoPro 7 lens is scratched. Microscopic scratches. I had to replace the lens. This is the exact replacement. It took some effort to remove the original lens. The lens is simply unscrewed. This lens turned back slightly and now I have a scratch free lens. I put on a protective tempered glass cover to prevent future scratches.

My gopro lens had a crack so I replaced it with this one. There is a trick though, because no matter how I tried to rotate it, it didn't work. You'll need to insert a credit card or something between the body of the cover and the camera to lift it up a bit, then loosen the mechanism to make the lens easier to rotate. Once I figured that out, it wasn't difficult to install.

I thought if I spend a little more for the GoPro brand I would get a quality product but when I opened the box there was a lot of dust in the lens (see picture) and how it looked look like scraps of paper? Or a piece of sticker? It took me 30 minutes or more to remove everything with microfiber. I had to push the microfiber all the way into the corner to avoid breaking the lens. I shouldn't have done any of this. Hope it was just me Hoping that when you order this the same thing doesn't happen…

Hero 7 Black already comes with one of these but I needed a second one so I can attach and filter it when flying my drone with it in the bright sunshine. It's nice to see that GoPro actually intended to make one specifically for the Hero 7 as it's a different color than the old screen protector that came on the 5 and 6 was. If you have a Hero 5 or 6 you will need a different part number (AACOV-001) if you have color matching concerns. Nothing to say except that it's just a replacement and it works. I left mine after I put my camera in a diving box and lost it in the meantime. Maybe someday I'll even take another one if I lose or break it…

I bought this to replace my FIRST lens when both the lens cap and the FULL LENS were shattered when I dropped it from a tractor (suction cup mount). YOU CAN REPLACE the inner lens, there is a photo repair company that sells used lenses you can buy for $30. It hurts to change as you risk breaking it if you try to screw it all the way in (another story). Either way, replacing those "caps" of the lens is a HUGE pain! It's easier to start than removing the old one. . . hence the lower rating. BUT…
