great for composting

I bought these for putting large amounts of compostable items into my bin. The bags were not designed to line a compost bin. They are too narrow but are sturdy enough to fill will soil and leaves from the yard (sticks will tear the bag). I put crumpled paper bags in the bottom of my bin to soak up liquids. I empty my garden pots into these bags or clean out the refrigerator growing experimental molds into the bags. I am very happy with these but gave them a low rating so people would read the…

Pros
  • Can hold up to 15 pounds of waste
Cons
  • Some users may find them less sturdy than traditional garbage bags

Capacity Rating Iffy

These bags were listed with a 6-8 gallon capacity, but what wasn't clear was the shape. I purchased an 8-gallon capacity trash can, and what I didn't realize was that these bags are more squat and square than tall and narrow, which is how my trash can is designed. They don't reach the bottom of my trash can, and therefore don't stay attached at the top of the interior can liner. When we put our compost waste into them, they fall down, even when I attempt to tie a knot to a top corner and put it

Pros
  • Improves air and water quality
Cons
  • May not be as readily available in all areas

Sturdy, convenient compost bags

The bags seem well put together - we use it in our 12L bin. Even when filled to capacity we haven’t had any rips/tears indicating it is very durable/sturdy, and it’s very convenient to use these instead of paper bags (which leak) or compost bins (messy). I do wish the opening of the bag was a little more form fitting to place in containers, but at this point we haven’t found anything better! Recommended!

Pros
  • Works with 16-25 gallon bins for versatility
Cons
  • May not be a good option for those with allergies to certain materials

Compostable & Sturdy!

So far, so good! My main concern was whether they would hold up to a week of kitchen trash. They did! I would not recommend pouring a pan of hot grease into them, or an overabundance of wet stuff, but for regular kitchen waste, they are working very well and are quite strong - no holes, no tears, etc. The size is perfect for a tall, large kitchen trash can - even with some volume to spare. Finally, an environmentally safe option to plastic. I do not mind paying more knowing that I am not adding

Pros
  • Can be used for both wet and dry waste
Cons
  • Can be more prone to sticking to each other than traditional garbage bags

Things are definitely picking up

This is the first time I've tried compostable bags. So far, I like them very well, they seem plenty sturdy for my needs, and are just the right size, in addition to the huge bonus of being more responsible environmentally. Yes, things are "picking up"!

Pros
  • Cleans up quickly and easily
Cons
  • Not recommended for use with wet or messy waste

Good bags, but packaged in a thick plastic wrapper

These came packaged in a distinctly non-compostable thick plastic wrapper inside the cardboard box. Still a lot less plastic than buying plastic garbage bags, but a little disappointing.

Pros
  • Has a low carbon footprint
Cons
  • Weak and flimsy

Hold up for a week - my new review

I use these in a regular kitchen trash can. Because compostable bags dissolve and break down when they get wet, I line the bottom of the bag with a couple of used lunch bags, or make sure that a few paper plates go into the bin first. With this precaution, these bags perform great. They’re thick and durable.

Pros
  • Fits all standard 16, 20, and 25-gallon trash cans
Cons
  • Higher risk of leaking than traditional garbage bags

Great little bags, but not practical

I bought these for a smaller 6 gal trash can we have in one of the pullout drawers and the reason I chose these is because they are compostable and I don’t like going through so many plastic trash bags. But they are just a tad too small and since they don’t have any drawstring it doesn’t stay on the edge and slips into the trash can the second you put something in it. Also, the material is a little thin and has ripped a few times. These would be great for smaller cans for the bathroom and…

Pros
  • Meets ASTM D6868 standards for compostable products
Cons
  • May require additional care when disposing of them

Not the sturdiest for my opinion

This compostable bag has so far been our least favorite that my large family has tried. We would end up using more bags because they were too thin to pull out a full bag from the trash can, tie and successfully take outside without it ripping at the top section where we would try to tie it. It also was the only bag to leave a ridiculous mess in our main trash can with the bag melting to the sides of the can before our weekly pickup. I recognize that these are compostable and have a short shelf…

Pros
  • Perfect for households, schools, and businesses
Cons
  • Smaller package size than traditional garbage bags

Worth the cost to reduce plastic waste

The bags are almost exactly as advertised. They worked very well for me with no option for recycling yard waste, mostly leaves. They are not strong enough for branches and big heavy stuff, but with care can work for most trash and garbage. Beats putting more plastic in landfills.

Pros
  • The bags are sturdy and I’m just happy to know I’m not creating a mess with a plastic bag
Cons
  • May not be as durable as traditional garbage bags
