Since I use different sizes of hole saws all the time, this thing is great. The quick change is so good and that you only have to buy new hole saws every time they wear out and not a whole new arbor. I use it on stainless steel range hoods all day.
These quick change mandrels are great, especially on big jobs when the saw becomes dull or breaks. Replacing the saw is completely hassle-free as you don't have to remove the mandrel to remove the saw. Simply turn the saw counter-clockwise, remove and replace with a new one. No hex keys fall out or tighten, no screwdrivers needed. Just a glove for a fairly warm saw to change into.
I used this cutter to drill several holes in the frame of the car. I drilled them at the bottom where the frame is double thick (box frame). Its thickness is almost 1/2 inch. Worked very well but I went through 3 pilot bits. I recommend drilling a pilot hole with a 1/4 bit and then using the pilot hole just to center the router. There is a great temptation to cut the pilot part because it is a very difficult part to cut well. However, it cannot handle a bend.
