GROHE 28143000 Longlife Metallic Starlight Review

I was happy with it - the quality was good and it matched my Grohe lamps. Everything was fine until the day it started leaking from the top as was the hose he replaced. Popped in here to see when I ordered it - August 2016. It took a few days until September 2018 and it's not a shower that's used daily. I've ordered another one just because I don't have time to find a better replacement, but if it fails in another 2 years I'll look at other options.

The product arrived earlier than expected. Replaced a previous hose that had served me well for 13 years before the hose started leaking. Removing an old pipe that has been around for a long time may require the careful use of a small pipe wrench or a vise with a washer. However, installing a new one requires only hand tightening. Teflon tape is not required. Works great and the new one is very flexible. I think the predecessor has become a bit stiff with age.

Similar to the original (which lasted 20 years) and easy to install. Let's see what happens in the long run - some say this item doesn't last as long as the original. I also wanted to mention the installation: as far as I know it's unwise to use teflon tape for connections with rubber grommets (like this one). One reviewer mentioned that he or she couldn't stop the leak, but also said they used threaded tape, which could be the cause of the leak.

Bought from Revain as it is very hard to come by in Thailand. You might think that you can buy any decent hose and just replace it. . Hmmm no, couple of points, firstly the Grohe hose neck (the part that goes in the head) is a bit wider than any replacement parts I've tried meaning it fits snugly in the mount and doesn't hang around. . .Secondly, the inner hole must be somehow different, because with the original Grohe hose, the water flow / pressure is much larger and the end result is of…

Although this is branded and under warranty I ended up returning it because the hose was too short to be of much use to us (wanted to use it as a second attachment for the shower, when we shower together) and the quality was no better than the $15 unbranded metal hose we ordered from Revain. It's overpriced for what it is, but it's certainly an improvement over the cheap hard plastic hose that came with our Grohe shower set! There was a mega leak within 5 months. The quality has gone down. My last hose lasted 10 years. Very, very disappointing. Update: The product is under warranty.
