After using Keurig for over 10 years we have decided to go back to the regular coffee pot. The hardest part is finding good coffee. We were big fans of Starbucks Verona K Cups, but spending $60 a month on coffee didn't seem sensible to us. We started by buying Jose's Organic Maya Mixture (Medium Roast) from Costco for $8.99 for 2 1/2 pounds. The coffee maker arrived today as promised. Pour a 12-cup pot of water on the 1-4 cup brew setting. It took 11 minutes to finish. I pulled out the jug during brewing and not a drop of water dripped. I poured a cup of hot water and it was very easy to pour with no issues. I measured the temperature at 140 degrees Fahrenheit. I am amazed at all the positive reviews for this coffee maker. Main problem: The kettle leaks EVERY time I pour from it. I have to put another cup under the coffee pot when I pour coffee so it doesn't spill all over the counter. I've tried pouring very, very slowly, very quickly, slightly to the left, slightly to the right, it doesn't matter. It drips every time. Coming from Cuisinart that I'm tired of the rust on its hot plate. I love this Hamilton Beach. Good design. Front access is a great idea and works well. I'm not sure the 'extra' charcoal filter is big enough to do anything. how is it really Cuisinart isn't that big either, and you have to rotate it regularly to be effective.
