I get quite a bit out of this brewery. It's great for brewing directly onto ice cubes without the risk of breaking the glass chamber because the cubes have to fall straight to the bottom of the glass. I wish the brewer was thicker glass like Pyrex. The filter basket is made of heavier glass and is protected by a silicone ring. Nice gesture. I love Hario machines but there are too many contradictions in this coffee maker to be perfect - The carafe itself is a very thin glass, about the same as a wine glass. This is typical of Hario containers, but all the others I've used have been much smaller or much more rounded. In this case it seems too fragile. My advice is to have a hot tap built in (just below boiling point) which makes this SUPER easy to use, although still a bit slower than a French press due to drain time.
