Ultimately, the brakes are crucial.

Only 150 miles to date. These things are hard to stop. I have had many different fleet and performance/towing brake pads. But these are different. Hawk recommends using a smooth rotor, not a perforated or slotted one. Fasten your seat belt or bang your head on the windshield.

Pros
  • Recommended for excessive payloads
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Stop performance increase!

so my old brake pads got {Raybestos} oil on them, they were the best for trucks. But when I put HAWK brakes on my [1999] F250, not only did the stopping power increase, but the ABS kicked in much earlier. I am very impressed with the brakes, they also match the rear brakes which are also HAWK. I don't know about durability but the rears have been around for 3 years now and I've noticed a difference so I put them on the fronts. Super Duty bakes pads on all sides. Thanks very much!

Pros
  • Extremely high coefficient of friction
Cons
  • The list is getting long.

I've heard good things about Hawk Red Pads so I thought so.

I bought these for a 1999 F350 that was towed too heavily. Original Ford pads usually withstand high loads. I then switched to yellow EBC pads for a few years until the last two sets only lasted 20k and 15k respectively. The last movement also had too much fading. Maybe EBC has quality control issues, or maybe someone repackaged the last two sets I got from AMAZON. IDK I've heard a lot of good things about the Hawk Red Pads so I decided to give them a try and so far I'm impressed. They need…

Pros
  • Extreme braking for extreme loads
Cons
  • Requires outlet
