High quality,. Torque at 45 in-lbs, not 45 ftlbs.

Matches my custom 19 Street Glide Factory Case perfectly. I was concerned when I read reports of trouble setting the torque to 45 ftlbs. The instructions say 45 inch pounds which is 3.75 lb-ft. Maybe there was a typo in the previous printed manual?

Pros
  • Everything OK!
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

A great filter if you want to keep the original look of your bike.

The filter was delivered very quickly and installed immediately. Replacing the factory filter takes 5 minutes. I took a few minutes to look at the size difference and it's amazing. The K&N filter has at least 1.5 times the intake area of the factory filter, if not more. I have a fuel pack tuner on a motorcycle and made sure to calibrate it for a high bandwidth filter. The bike drives perfectly.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Watch out for torque! fits air cleaner and accessories

I had the same problem as Roger S. Whitelaw. When tightening the screws, the plastic gave way and the screws sank into the plastic. I even put them on 10 pounds less than recommended. The instructions clearly state that the motor can be damaged if this is not installed correctly. So I don't know how to make sure the torque spec is met. There is metal in the standard filter that prevents this error. Very disappointed with how much this product costs as it is not rated for the torque required.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Very expensive

Broken during installation, poor design

Plastic mounting holes don't do the job. They should have steel inserts, like a regular filter. Harley specs are 40-60 inches for the air cleaner element. K&N instructions call for 45 in-lbs, otherwise the filter may not seal and engine damage may result. Well, you won't get close to that torque. At 30psi the bottom bracket broke and the bolt came out without tightening the filter to the throttle body. This is very bad because the filter looks good and is much larger than the OEM. If they…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Some flaws

45 pounds is a typo. Works great

First of all, anyone who's worked with cars, motorcycles or lawnmowers knows that almost nothing ever goes below 45psi, especially when it's made out of plastic. This leads me to suspect that they made a typo in the instructions. Maybe 14-15 psi or 24-25 psi, that's not much and I'm a big guy known for cracking outlet sidewalls. What about K&N? Great product and works 10 times better than paper filters which makes you wonder why a company that is charging $30,000 for a motorcycle wouldn't spend

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

No benefit when used with M8 engine

I'm sure some people would argue otherwise but here are my findings. I installed it on a 2018 Road King. I also installed bypasses to allow the bleeder screws to vent to atmosphere. I plugged the hole in the air filter where the breather hose would normally go. I didn't notice any real difference in the way it worked or sounded, other than a 10% MPG loss. I have driven about 1000 miles with the filter and it has consistently been lower than the OEM. When I took it off, there was a thin film of…
