I didn't know or read that the bottom of the plastic is sewn on top and the sides are plastic which one of my piglets keeps chewing because she likes the sound. I will not buy this product again.

Just got them and changed pet cage before bed. They don't absorb anything, the urine just dripped onto the mat and my poor guinea pig was soaked to the skin the next morning. Terrible and such a disappointment!

Returned. The only thing that is true about the material description is that it has an excellent design. These are the basic waterproof pads for human babies - like a non-quilted changing pad in a cheap diaper bag. NOT for small animals.

These rugs are very cute! However, it doesn't soak in very well. they're inexpensive, but we personally have to use a different type of absorbent pad underneath if we're going to keep him in our guinea pig's cage for more than a day.

UPDATE: The plastic backing fell apart after the 1st wash. I really wanted to work. I'm still not sure. We used it for 2 days and it looked (and smelled) like it needed replacing after only 1/2 a day. Just changed and washed. The verdict has not yet been announced.

Shrunk 3 or 4 inches after washing/drying and crumpled at the edges, they are quite thin, good for light wear but guinea pigs urinate too much for this to work Cage lining and it doesn't offer much cushioning. After several washes, the liquids initially collect in drops and are slowly absorbed, leaving the pigs slightly damp.
