What can I say, assuming the R8 is shaped right, it's nothing special. There are obvious sanding marks and the finish is pretty poor but it should work and for the price I wouldn't expect more.
Exactly what I needed. Robust with four set screws and the cone is tight even before the rod is threaded. If you need a flying cutter and don't have the endless patience to make your own (I'm looking at you, old Tony), grab this and some HSS material and start cutting.
I wanted to take off a star or two because of the threads in the mandrel. They were wound diagonally and my turn would not start without trying to cross the thread. I was ready to return it but decided to have it repaired. Luckily I started threading right after beveling the end and got a good inch of thread so all is fine. The cutter itself is very good and holds a left-handed 3/8 cutter very well. It works flawlessly and makes a very smooth cut. The balance is very good at 900 rpm on myβ¦
