Premium Safflower Gold Natural 🦜 Food Mix for Parrots by Higgins Review

This seems like a healthy mix for my Revain Parrot. I bought a total of 6 pounds in two 3 pound bags. I noticed that my first bag contained sunflower seeds. But other than that, the second bag seemed fine. My parrot seems to like it. Overall I think this is a pretty good product.

I didn't know this product had peanuts in the shell. Never give parrots peanuts. They can be carriers of aspergillosis, a very difficult to treat fungal disease in birds. I chose peanuts in shell. The analysis was fine. I won't buy it again because of the nuts.

I have Hana's Macaw and she used to be addicted to sunflower seeds so I switched her to a safflower blend and she loved it. I got it from Smith and Foster but they stopped selling it. I sampled Higgins Saffflower and found a lot of irritation in the mix and discarded about 1/3 of what my parrot didn't touch. There was a lot of dust in the bag. I found a brand I've always liked and ordered it. I will not order this again.

I ordered this food based on the picture provided and was disappointed that it didn't look like the picture apart from the labeling. The image features dried bananas, peppers, and other juicy foods that parrots enjoy. The sachet contains birdseed and mainly millet. There are some dried bananas, peppers or "other juicy foods". It's mostly birdseed, and I'm sending it back.
