Poor design for large hole sizes.

Failed. I had a 7/8" hole that I was trying to enlarge to 1" in 1/8" mild steel. Rotation. There is a lot of friction with this attachment as there is only one cut relief. When trying to make a hole When trying to drill there was so much friction that the drill stopped turning I do not recommend this bit if you are using it for larger holes.

Pros
  • Made of strong high-speed steel
Cons
  • old

Best Unibit step drill

I work in a metal workshop. This bit is definitely better quality than others I've purchased. Best of all, it cuts clockwise and counterclockwise, which means more value to you because you actually have two cutting edges. Even if you damage one (which is very difficult), you can still use it in reverse. Another great thing about two cutting edges is that when you jam, you just have to reverse the drill and it will cut back as you pull the workpiece out.

Pros
  • Single edge cutting edge for true round holes and maximum pitch control
Cons
  • High price

Purchased to drill stainless steel sinks for extra filtered faucets. Previously, a smaller pitch drill and hole punch were used. Finally used Irwin Unibit #5 in a project. After drilling the starting hole with a smaller Milwaukee step bit, an attempt was made to open the hole to 1-1/4 inch with an Irwin Unibit. The Irwin Unibit just flipped it around and got the metal around the starting hole so hot that touching the metal area burned my finger. Continued drilling until my hard drill bit…

Pros
  • SpeedPoint for faster start
Cons
  • I will add later
