Works great with USB Host Library 2.0

I bought 2 and they work fine. Sorry to everyone who got a defect. For Micro Pro 3.3V: 1. Disconnect the line between VBUS and 2k2 to get 5.0V2. Two jumper wires on VCC and RST, VBUS and RAW3. Place Micro Pro on USB host shield, align and connect: (top) INT, GND, (bottom) SS, MOSI, MISO, SCK, VCC, GND, RAWDone.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Not bad

Didn't work but got my money back

I received a defective one but the seller provided a free replacement or refund with a commitment to closer inspection. I opted for a refund as the delivery time for the replacement didn't work out for me.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • No paint required

Defective/Incorrect Assembly

I received mine today and it is DOA. I've spent hours testing different microcontrollers (Arduino Pro Micro, ESP8266 / Wemos D1 Mini, ESP32), different test sketches and checking with an oscilloscope. In the end I identified the problem: the module was not built correctly. Since they are likely to be machine filled and soldered, I suspect the entire production batch is bad. The MAX3421E chip, the heart of this board, is oriented 90 degrees clockwise from its true orientation. Look at the index…

  • Great Design

Works seamlessly with Arduino Mini Pro (3.3V)

How - Works seamlessly with Arduino Mini Pro 3.3V. Simply snap on top of each other and use the USB host library to connect to a establish wireless network device in a few minutes. I used it to pair with a PS4 controller. Works very well Dislikes - Not shock resistant. I accidentally plugged it into a 5V mini and then the USB host device didn't work. Pairing with a Bluetooth device is also not as secure. Most of the time it connects well, but 20% of the time it doesn't. You need to reset, and…

Pros
  • Easy to Use
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Very limited by devices connecting to it

Host is only suitable for very basic devices. You need a computer operating system such as Windows or Raspian to make it work like a Windows desktop when you connect devices to a USB port. Note that your operating system loads so many drivers when you connect a new device.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged

I really want them to work. If I can get a replacement and it works I'll happily give 5 stars. They come with no documentation or even a link to online documentation, but I assume it's a clone of a manufactured mini-USB host. Oleg Mazurov from Circuits@Home.

Pros
  • Computer Components
Cons
  • High Price

But make sure you know how it works before you buy it. Most Pro Micro boards these days operate at 5V as required by this board. So if you want to connect this 5V board, you need level converter + 3v3 power regulator. Then it works perfectly. One of the downsides of this board is the lack of a jumper to power the USB port itself with a separate power supply (5V). Not all devices work properly with a 3.3V USB port.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Seniors
