He does what he has to do.

The part of the hook where you pull the rope is poorly designed and manufactured. The threaded center section isn't open so you can't see how tightly you're attaching/loosening the hooks and it looks like it's not very good quality metal. If I had to buy another one, I wouldn't take this one.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Not bad

Fixed sagging fence gate!

This is a great option if you have a sagging door. I used this device to repair my nephew's fence gate in about 15 minutes. He was amazed and considered replacing all the gates before I told him about it. Affordable price and quality work! You will not be disappointed!

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • Requires Base

Product broke during installation

Sagging door needed a quick fix. Bought this item. During installation, the turnbuckle was very difficult to tighten, and then the S-hook on the end (which tightens, not the turns) broke on the shaft. Obviously I can't complete my repair, so I need to investigate another device. Also, the lanyard is made of soft aluminum and not steel.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • unreliable

Works great but my gate is bent

Works as intended, my gate sits back in place BUT the wooden gate is bent in the middle so it doesn't fit perfectly. Not a product defect, just a poorly built wooden gate. To help with this I installed some flat metal braces at the corners which removed 75% of the arch but not all - now the gate works very well. I would suggest making sure your goal is strong on the diagonal versus setting this element.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Two people will be good for this job.

The item comes with everything needed for installation. The two points, which are directly connected to the gate, can be easily mounted with a cordless drill. However, no one helped me and once I had everything assembled, I saw that I would not have enough space for adequate cable training. If I have someone to help me, I will remove the cable and teach them to climb the gate better.

Pros
  • Inexpensive
Cons
  • Damaged

The double hook broke immediately

The hook broke immediately after tightening after assembly. We went to Menard's and bought a bigger and stronger hook for only $2-3. Attached it to the rest of the gate with a smaller S hook, which probably cost less than $1 because the end of the larger hook was too big for the bracket hole. The kit worked great after these modifications, but the quality of the original metal material in the hook appears to be poor/prone to breakage.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • disappears
