So far I think this unit has absorbed its weight in cat hair and dust. not to mention three other fluffy balls running around the house. No dust balls in the living room. With four indoor cats, this has significantly reduced the amount of allergens in the home. We never knew how much cat hair was in the house until this "dust and fur magnet" started doing its job.

Honestly I bought this as a white noise generator and because my partner complained about cat dander/dandruff. I love it so much I've just ordered a second one for the lower tier. I read the reviews and they all mentioned it being noisy or very noisy, I'm so glad they were wrong. It's not loud. Loud but not scary. I let it run at the highest level for 8 hours to clear the room and was able to do everything in the noise area without any problems. Holmes usually has great air purifiers but this black version has a few flaws. This was the second black one I've bought and both had an issue with the door not staying closed (had to tape it up, it opened randomly and went out in the middle of the night). Also, unlike the white version of the Holmes (which are usually much better and sometimes cheaper) they didn't have a front charcoal filter on the door, but this black one has one and it fills up with dust so quickly and is very unaesthetic…

Now I have two such wonderful air purifiers. The first was bought over 10 years ago. During those 10+ years it has been off for maybe 10 total hours during power outages, cleaning and filter changes. When cleaning, I regularly vacuum the dust that has built up on the activated carbon pads and replace them more frequently than (3) HEPA filters. At the lowest speed it is very quiet.
