Based on the reviews I decided to buy a Hoover Pet Max vacuum cleaner. I have a Bissel Pet but it no longer works. The vacuum cleaner has a wider head and more powerful nozzles than the Bissel, the cords are about the same length. It's pretty loud, but it picks up everything. The first day with this vacuum was amazing. Our old vacuum (also a Hoover pet vacuum) was tired, worn, and clogged easily, so we decided to upgrade it. After my first canister vacuum was a terrible vacuum, I reverted to a bag vacuum. It seemed to get clogged with hair every time I used it and I had to constantly flush the filters. I took a chance and bought this vacuum cleaner. It's built differently than the old model and can hold more hair than I thought it would without losing suction. Wow. That's all I can say. This is probably the best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. I usually buy cheaper vacuums from Walmart so I don't have a comparison to other high quality brands of vacuums. I live in a house with 2 dogs, a cat, 2 parrots, 2 gerbils, 3 children and my husband. Needless to say, our carpets have a lot of dirt, pet hair and dander on them. Replaced my old vacuum with this one. I am impressed with this vacuum cleaner and at the same time dismayed at how poorly my last vacuum cleaner (which was very expensive) worked. I only got this vacuum because I broke my previous one by having the hose (which was in front of the vacuum) hanging in a closet.
