Better than the original.

It plugged right into the wiring and was so easy. Great price, great product and most importantly easy installation. I will buy more if needed.

Works perfectly. Best in Wiring

Installation Tip: Use needle nose pliers to remove the protective cap from the Xterra connector. The connector is located in front of the rear bumper on the right side frame. The installation took literally 2 minutes. Works perfectly.

  • Easy Installation

Will not fit all 1st Generation Nissan Xterra

If you have a 1st Generation Xterra with 4WD plus Off-Road Package (4.63 gears in diffs etc) plus manual transmission will not work for you . With this combination of options, Nissan did not include the factory connector required for this harness.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Installing Xterra 1st Gen

The most difficult part of this installation on Xterra 1st Gen was removing the standard connector cover. It was covered in primer and difficult to see due to the poor lighting I had. Close inspection of the connector on the Hopkins wiring harness showed me how it was attached, which made it easier to remove the stock connector cover. Grease for the plug connections is included, so the plug connections should be in good condition for a long time.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • I don't remember

save money at the dealer and get this. I bought this for a 2011 X-terra Pro-X 4x4 which I thought came with a 'towing package'. No, you need these relays to get the full functionality (indicators, etc.). I don't like cars but after watching a few videos on You Tube it was easy to figure out. and wallah-ready for the road. Comes with all quality parts. Very satisfied.

Pros
  • nice deal
Cons
  • weight

Don't buy a Nissan OEM Trailer Harness Adapter! Buy it and save money!

It was perfect for my 2003 Nissan Xterra. You should already have the factory towing package installed! Remember! The factory tow harness with plugs is located behind the corner of the rear passenger side bumper and once you've removed that plug, apply some dielectric grease and just plug it in! It's a little tricky to unplug this original plug, but installation doesn't get any easier. Now you can safely tow a trailer with headlights. A highly recommended product.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Does what it should. Very important!

Nissan XTerra V6 4x4 2000 without towing package. While the general instructions don't quite suit this car, once I figured out how to remove the protective connector from the car's factory taillight connector above the spare tire, the wiring harness installation was done literally in a minute. The trick is to remove the bracket that holds the car's connector to the frame so you have better access to the push tab that holds the safety connector (and the new connector). Replacing the screwโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pretty Package
