Description of 🪑 Howard RS0016 Restor-A-Shine Wood Finish Polishing Compound - 16 oz: Revitalize and Shine Your Wood Furniture

Safely polish out and buff away fine scratches, oxidation, dullness, and haze on glossy wood finishes. Developed especially for glossy polyurethane, lacquer, varnish, and shellac wood finishes, including furniture, pianos, floors, and guitars. Revives shine to dull areas, eliminates steel wool swirl marks, and most other minor surface blemishes. Use as the final step in rubbing out a new high gloss wood finish to achieve a mirror like finish. Creamy formula that can be used with a cloth or an electric buffer (especially when used on floors). Made in USA.

Works well on floors, but $$$

This "polishing" doesn't make floors shine. I guess he just sealed the paint. A different bottle of paint worked fine. Not as good as they describe or the reviews claim BUT it worked well enough to make unacceptable hardwood floors look acceptable. Certainly not surprising, but definitely worth the effort. VERY expensive for bunk use if you want to do more than one room. The test area I did in the main hall took about 2 months. It wears out faster than expected. Next time I'll go without…

I should have taken a picture

I blame myself for not taking a picture before. To be honest I thought I would have to polish the top of the dresser but I decided to try it as a last resort and was amazed at the result! Imagine, if you will, a HUGE water stain. It's yellow because I didn't notice my plant leaking repeatedly until I recently moved and had to pick it up. Take care of yourself: do not place plants on wooden furniture. It was impossible to get out without a sander, but lo and behold, the more I got rid of this…

Doesn't add shine, leaves a thick finish

Repair finish works great, but if you want to restore the shine later, stick with the Rejuvenate line. This Howard product does not change the finish (after using Restore a Finish). I've used it on several items I've worked on and all it left was a very matte finish that was never fully polished. Even a few days later, a swipe of a finger left a huge streak on the surface, and the surface itself seemed kind of grainy. Bottle of Rejuvenate Cabinet/Furniture Restorer. And finally achieved the…

Don't waste your money and time! Spotted finish!

There are stains on my dining table top and chairs. Looks terrible. I wipe dry before use, there is no dirt, the table is always covered with a tablecloth, so no grease, etc. I went with a cotton rag in a circular motion, and then with grain while reading the instructions. It initially looked ok so I agreed with my friend who recommended it. After a few hours of drying, my table looks awful! He's destroyed. I tried polishing with another oil, it's terrible! It smells good, that's the only thing

In my case, not a glossy finish, but I'm satisfied.

I like the product. If I were to deduct a star it might be because I didn't get a glossy finish. I ended up with a satin finish, which was my original goal. The wood was walnut and had previously been treated with 5 coats of Danish clear lacquer followed by 6 coats of clear semi-gloss polygel. After applying the first few coats of Danish varnish, sanding was done between each coat. The final finish was done with a Minwax Oil Poly Spray to simply fill in any remaining sand marks. After that I…

works for me (Why no lid?)

Ironically, this bottle/jar was sent to me WITHOUT a white lid. For real! It only had the blue connector that you see when you remove the white cap. I bought several cans of Restore-a-Finish and Restore-a-Shine so I know how they are packaged: a blue inner cap and a white cap on a blue cap. You must remove both to access the product. The white cap was AWOL. Perhaps even more surprising was that he arrived safe and sound. I think the blue inner plug did its job well. I love all of the…

Really worked for me

This product restored the shine to dull areas on my clear coat finish. The product is very similar to cleaning wax for your fiberglass car or boat. If you have polished fiberglass by hand before, you may be familiar with the combination of compound and wax. Similarly, if you have buffed scratches on your car's clear coat, this product is a creamy, thick liquid with some grit. I have an Arts and Crafts solid white oak dining table with a high gloss finish. I believe it's a catalyzed clear coat…

Ideal for finishing new polishes

I've been doing some kitchen cabinet work lately and decided to take the opportunity to improve my finishing skills. For new work, this material easily replaces the traditional pumice and rot polishing steps. For reference, my current projects use semi-gloss Minwax polyacrylic varnish on hardwood maple or wenge. The process goes something like this: * Sand bare wood with progressively finer grades of sandpaper up to 320 grit until smooth. * Wipe the wood with a damp cloth and allow to air dry…

Works well! in wood polish & care

It met my expectations. I used it on a piece of furniture I was assembling. When you finish the furniture and sand between layers of paint, the paint will be rough or cloudy, but you need to remove dust particles and the like. Every time you apply a new varnish the wood looks amazing, every time you scratch it it becomes dull. For the final coat of paint, you can simply use steel wool to remove the final feathers. Of course, that spoils the shine. The polishing paste is the last step to…
