Good oil filter - tools and equipment

I use this oil filter with Royal Purple oil. Worked well with my Hemi engine. This filter is very easy to remove and install.

Fits F150 2005 5.4 liter

Hexagonal eyelet makes removal easier in tight spots where a standard strap wrench is difficult to use. I have purchased this item 10 times for my 2005 5.4 liter F150 engine and it fits. Just recently Revane said it doesn't fit my engine!? I suspect their database has gotten a little shaky because the K&N website says this filter fits, and of course I know it does, from previous use. K&N is more expensive, but my oil seems cleaner when I change it.

K&N brand quality. for oil filter wrench

I have used K&N products for many years for everything from storage to productivity. These oil filters provide an extra layer of security for the longevity of your engine. Especially when using synthetic oils and longer oil change intervals. I use these filters not only on all my vehicles, but also on my farm tractor, 4x4 and zero turn mower. They're worth the extra money now, not later wear and tear failures due to cheap filters, oils and fluids. And the screw-in design simplifies service in…

Why can't an oil filter be made with a welded hex nut?

I am not obsessed with K&N, I only use this filter for the nut welded to the bottom. Accessing my pickup's filter is a major problem with traditional filter keys. Trust me I've tried them all and I've got the scars to prove it. It seems like the filter is always being compressed by the heat/cool cycles and nothing else can handle the tight space well. The filter itself doesn't seem any better or worse than other high quality filters. I would pay extra for a hex nut if Wix or anyone else offered

1 inch nut makes all the difference!

Now I only use these K&N oil filters. I have a new 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.7L HEMI V-8 engine. The oil filter is protected by a metal shroud which makes using a standard strap wrench very difficult. When using, you must use a wrench that accepts a square shank extension. And you can't muster much torque with the one I have. A nut welded to the end of the K&N oil filter simplifies removal and installation. I just use a standard 1" socket with a short extension and a ratchet. K&N is the

The nut alone is worth it

The nut at the end is the main reason to buy it and I see no reason to buy anything else. K&N must have patented this as no other brand I've seen has a hex nut on the end which is a shame. EVERY oil filter must have a hex nut. It's also one of the few oil filters to consistently get good ratings on Dodge SRT engines. My 6.4 liter Hemi seems happy and after removing it I've never seen any crumpled filter material in it like some other brands of filters. They're a little more expensive than some…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • I'm worried

I'm a big fan of K&N. Far superior to the cheaper paper oil filters, these oil filters remove far more contaminants entering your engine. I've only used K&N products on my vehicles for years and have NEVER had a problem. Their air filters are second to none, and while their oil filters need to be replaced at every oil change, they are just as effective. The result is reduced engine component wear and improved performance and fuel economy. You can trust K&N to provide the best protection for…

Protect your investment with filters from Best-K&N

I want to maintain my vehicles with the very best products. K&N filters are the best! when i was younger I thought a filter was a filter and bought a Fram or some other cheap brand and I figured that would do. I'm older and hopefully a lot wiser in terms of life experiences and the extensive research I do in everything I buy. In most cases. You get what you pay for. I have used K&N oil and air filters in my trucks, cars and motorcycles for many years and have no intention of going down to…
