The fittings they screw into the leak themselves with teflon tape. It is very dangerous if the fuel does not stop flowing. Terrible fittings especially when it comes to fuel on the boat.

I did a little research and installed this filter in front of the primer bulb. My Yamaha F50 outboard also has a filter. Now I separate the water before it gets into my hoses and engine. I'm glad I made this purchase. I researched all the others. So far, so good.

I have been in the boating business for 20 years. BRP certified for Johnson and Evinrude outboards. Every engine manufacturer recommends using a fuel/water separator filter. I have used many but this is the only one that was complete. Great product at a great price and the only one I will be using from now on.

I cannot test the quality of the filter or its performance but the housing, filter and fittings appear to be well made. I installed a Mercury outboard this weekend and have had no fuel delivery issues. I think it's a good investment and a little extra insurance for the engine even if it's not necessary. Even after installation there were no leaks. The kit included everything you need to connect to the fuel lines.

The filter comes with two hose connectors and two plugs. The installer should wrap Teflon tape around the fittings to seal them. I did this, and after tightening one plug, the aluminum base broke in the threaded insert. It looks like the aluminum is too thin or it was a manufacturer fault. I couldn't start my diesel engine because of a leak in a broken fitting. Overall you get what you pay for.

I'm bringing our newly acquired 76 Carver back to new splendor. I've found the stock fuel filter canisters to degrade and leak. Just trying to remove them, the metal collapsed and twisted. As much as I have tried to keep the items original/authentic, given the circumstances of the cost I have preferred to update them and I would have to try to find originals or reasonable substitutes.
