Does not fully cover OEM (smaller) range, so expect an aftermarket look. And the seal has to fit perfectly, otherwise water will get into the cabin. The pin connections are loose and need to be sealed with tape or other means to prevent them from coming loose. I would not buy again.

Although the screw holes didn't line up exactly - jiggle a little and I got it working. Beautiful and bright! Ease of installation. I was concerned at first because although the packaging looked new and it was made of protective plastic over the actual lamp plate, the other side was dirty when I received it. It's been a week since I installed - looks good.

Failed safety test due to third brake light failure; So I ordered this and exchanged it. The electrical connection isn't quite the same as the original, but pin headers are included as a simple workaround that are actually easier to install. The light is bright and direct, its body distorting all the electronics where the originals don't (this is why my lights are failing). I would recommend it to anyone who has a mini third brake light that has failed and would like to replace it themselves.

I've read a lot of reviews that it's a complicated connection with electrical connectors but I've had no problems. The connection is firm, but must be snapped in by hand. I installed this on my 2009 Cooper s R56 and had no issues with the installation (3 minutes and 2 screwdrivers) nor had any issues with dashboard warning lights not recognizing the part. 3 weeks installed, looks good and no problems. I can't guarantee the longevity of the lamps, but I'll update the review if I'm unsatisfied…

Please note that the connection on the back of the flashlight is not compatible with either the extension cable supplied or the connection on the Mini. They don't snap together like they should. Because of this, the plug falls apart very easily. There are 2 picture ports as designed. The black and red wire is the extension cord that comes with the light. the brown/black wire is the Mini Cooper wire. The light looks well made and works when I first connected it to my car. BUT it's not possible to keep it wired permanently as Mini seems to have changed connection since 2005 and later. From my research, I learned that the third brake light in 2004 and below has a separate wiring harness that connects the car's wiring and the third brake light wiring.
