apply color flakes to the dough; Save money on a cast iron press

Product does what it is supposed to do; however, it is "overcast" or mostly colored. push hinge with handle; The pressure scrapes the paint off and the paint flakes get stuck in my dough. I used saran wrap on both sides as directed in the instructions. I recommend saving your money on a cast iron press.

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • I will add later

Huh I thought I would like it a lot more than I did. The rolling pin works better. The press leaves the cakes too thick. However, it is a great addition to claymation tools. If I could turn back time I wouldn't waste my time or money on this product. I still had to roll out each tortilla after removing them from the press so a step could be cut out and only one pin could be used.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Great for making tamales!

We bought this bad boy when we first started mass producing tamales. We pop in a parchment/wax paper paste ball and it instantly flattens out, ready to fill and roll out! This reduces the cooking time of tamale by HOURS SERIOUSLY! Didn't use it for the tortilla though. Also, my only complaint is that the paint REALLY chipped where the pen pressed on it. But since we use it with wax paper, that hasn't been a problem for us so far. Great if you need/want cheaper than cast iron.

Pros
  • Nice workmanship
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

These are tortillas, not rocket science.

The price is right and it works. This is a tortilla press, not a hay baler, it is designed to gently press the tortillas to an even thickness, not to compact the tortillas to break them into pieces. A walnut-sized masa ball transforms into a large flatbread with a light touch of the lever. If you break this thing, like some people say, you need anger management training. I would highly recommend this little gem to anyone who is in serious need of a really good, inexpensive tortilla press. Happy

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Negative impression

I love it so far! Kitchen & Dining

We love using it to mash fried green bananas into banana cake. It also works very well for its intended purpose of making tortillas. One piece of advice I would give is to press down on the top plate with your hands before pushing the lever. This puts much less stress on parts that could potentially break if you push the lever too hard. All in all I love it! It's extremely easy to use and clean, and was reasonably priced, so win win win! The only two things I don't like are: 1. There is no play

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Garden Tools

A good corn tortilla press at an even better price!

It's not rocket science, you put in corn dough, mash it up and you get a tortilla. I've seen some reviews of people trying to make flour tortillas and ending with an epic failure, you have to roll them out with a rolling pin (Revain handles that too, lol). No shortcuts for it. As for this product, it didn't bring world peace, or eliminate world hunger, or help me find a unicorn, but it worked according to the specified parameters and produced raw, symmetrical corn masses [aka tortillas]…

4 stars for this product - a big lie! After reading the mixed reactions to the reviews I thought to give it a try. Plate with plastic, it didn't work. Then I read somewhere that the trick to getting a thin base is to fold 3 balls of dough separated by plastic or parchment paper and then press the pin. This tortilla press worked. I added more weight just to make sure I speak for him when in doubt. It does not matter. It's like a soft ball of dough has a mind of its own. By far the worst product…
