idle speed (and, accordingly, noise) is much higher. and fast at those intervals, making the computer noisy. I'll try some 0.40A fans I've found elsewhere and see how they compare. So far I have found a solution to an original fan that started to fail and makes less noise than this new fan. :/

Does the job. There was an Asus 1080 Strix card with a blown fan. Asus hasn't changed anything under warranty. They said that replacing the fan itself would void my warranty, which I found funny because they wouldn't honor it anyway. They also wanted $300 for repairs plus shipping both ways. The swap took about 10 mins. Be sure to order the correct fan as each of the three fans has different connectors depending on where the fan is located in the case.

GTX 1080 Strix (3 fans). The original fan started squeaking after a few years so I replaced it with this new fan which works great but started making noise after 2 weeks - it doesn't make a squeaking noise but more of a vibrating noise when it's running spins - it's only about 3 seconds each time it boots up, but it's annoying when you have a completely silent case. I wonder if the map is killing the fans or if the fans are just not up to the task.

Perfect fit for Strix 1070. Fan looks identical to original, works well, spins up and down as usual. After replacing it, I can't even say that this isn't the original. The screws were a bit wider than the recessed area they were supposed to go in, but it was easy to use a drill to trim off some of the excess plastic by hand. Actually, that's not a problem. This is the same fan size as the dual 1060 model, I think all Asus 10xx models use this fan size.
