Description of InstallGear 4 Gauge Red 25Ft Power/Ground Wire True Spec And Soft Touch Cable

25-FEET (7.62m) [ RED 4 GAUGE POWER/GROUND WIRE ] - The lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire. Thicker wire presents less resistance to current flow. COPPER CLAD ALUMINUM (CCA) - CCA wiring provides a good conductor for power transfer. This is the most economical option when choosing power or ground wire. Systems that require more power should consider OFC wiring. RUGGED PVC JACKET - Allows free, wide and seamless adjustment of the required physical properties of this wire such as flexibility, elasticity, and impact resistance. EASY POLARITY IDENTIFICATION - This two color jacket allows for easy polarity identification. Making a polarity mistake could be damaging to your audio equipment. SOFT TOUCH JACKET - The jacket on our cable is designed with the installer in mind. The flexibility of this jacket allows for easy routing and has a low memory.

Garbage aluminum not copper

ALUMINUM wire not copper which is not clear from the product description. Dissolved after 2 years with terrible galvanic corrosion. The wire is copper colored to fool you, but it's actually aluminum. I haven't seen aluminum wire sold in decades, so I wasn't expecting anything other than copper. Luckily my truck didn't catch fire.

Cons
  • Communication with the seller

Corrodes and breaks very, very quickly. Very fast.

This is absolute rubbish. The copper wires inside the cable are completely susceptible to corrosion and simply break within a few months. Absolutely rubbish. It works great for those few months, but then it suddenly erupts out of nowhere. Garbage. Would not buy this product again nor would I recommend it.

NEVER AGAIN!: Car Audio Video Installation

Bought wire made a huge installation in a friends van. The van is always in the garage, never seen rain or snow. Battery. Both exchanged, the next day they blew up the generator and battery. Tore it up, came and found the wire (on the bottom side) had literally turned to powder. $1,500 in pipes. so. Just a crappy wire. LESSON LEARNED By the way, there were three wires that went bad. Not only one

Good cable for the money.

Since it was a lot cheaper than other 1/0 cables I was nervous about the quality I was going to get. I was pleasantly impressed, the cable is truly a 1/0 conductor and easy to work with. I'm not sure the cable jacket will be as strong as some of the other more expensive cables, but I don't put it where extra strength is needed and it's a lot easier to work with and run with. cables in the smallest of spaces. I would definitely buy this brand again.

Great wire great price

This wire exceeded my expectations, it is very soft, flexible and strong looking and conducts electricity very well. We use it to power an aircraft we are working on from a TekPower 13.8V DC switching power supply rated at 50 amps. So far we've used this cable at around 15-20 amps, maybe a bit more at times, and it hasn't even gotten hot. We're using a full 25ft run of black and red for this setup (see attached image). Voltage drop over the entire 25-foot run is surprisingly less than I would…

True 8 gauge cable!

I've found that some of the cheaper assembly kits come with wires advertised as 8 gauge, but when you actually get them you'll find something like 14 gauge wire with much thicker insulation. Copper wire with high-quality insulation. It is easy to use, behaves very well and seems to meet the advertised specifications. I installed an aftermarket subwoofer/woofer combo in my new car in addition to the existing factory radio which is pretty good on its own. The subwoofer adds a whole new dimension…

Cons
  • Expensive

I installed the InstallGear cable in my car where it goes from the battery pack to the amplifier. After about 18 months the plastic insulation (housing, whatever) broke at various exposed spots in the engine compartment exposing the copper conductor. I have no idea why the case failed - I suspect the plastics just don't hold up well to the heat/time in the car's environment. The sheathing of the exposed cable in the trunk appears intact, and presumably the same goes for the patches hidden under

Cons
  • So far so good

Just what I needed

Good deal I just want to help a little with the size of the cable I actually need. Any place where car stereos work will tell you to use 4 gauge or larger for my 750w and 1200w RMS amps. And I installed the 4th gauge first, and it seemed inconvenient to install and hide it. But the wires were always freezing, so I know they weren't stressed at all. Then I researched further about the size of caliber required for the wattage used and found out by reading the work of two different engineers…

Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
