The box contained "old " stock

I needed a replacement motor for my Intermatic timer. My original part number was WG1573-5E so I wasn't sure if the WG1573-10D would work. After checking it out, I found that the base part number WG1573 should work as a replacement for any motor with the base part number WG1573. The dash number represents an improvement over the original part number. So WG1573-10D is a newer version of WG1573-5E. Made cheap; works, but for how long?

I had an Intermatic watch that worked for 15 years but the gasket was missing (replaced with silicone) and the box was rusted. The clock worked fine. I bought a new one a year ago but only installed it 2-3 years ago and yes I kept it at home. The box is already rusting (take a plastic box if local regulations allow) but the clock motor has burned out. I have a whole house surge protector. Luckily I recently updated my set of taps and dies.

I had a problem installing this engine. I ordered what Intermatic lists as a replacement for my timer, but when I went to install it I found that it and the original motor are slightly different. The motor I ordered was this one, WG1573-10D. The engine I had was WD 1573-5. The old motor in my timer was WG1573-5E. The photos show that the metal protrusions on the motors are different. Buying this motor is by far the cheapest way to fix a stuck T104 timer. Compared to the 1X cost of this motor, the complete mechanism costs about 2.6X, the mechanism in the inner box is about 2.9X, and the mechanism in the outer box is about 4.2X.
