Such a deal! good for fasteners

Ordered two of these as I wasn't sure of the quality in case one should break during use. Guess I have a backup. They worked great and were solid for their size. The price was amazing and very reasonable. I have no doubts about working with this company again.

Pros
  • Ideal for routine maintenance, repairs and re-threading
Cons
  • Available in black only

Not good. good for fasteners

The tap was not very sharp. Even with a hole size for 50% thread, it sits quite accurately on the steel. I smudged the cut edges and crevice at the thread burr, which helped a little, but not much. Someone inexperienced in tapping would surely break this faucet.

Pros
  • Used where high precision and thread tolerance are not critical
Cons
  • Very expensive

quality tool! for screws

I bought this faucet to mount a Weaver on an old JC Higgins. I also have a cheap T-handle wrench to use. The wrench turned into a piece of junk and wouldn't hold the tap, so I just stuck the tap in the chuck of my cordless drill. A risky move as these HSS taps are very hard but also very brittle and can easily break if overtorqued (which is why you use a hand wrench to avoid the nightmare of a broken tap in the hole). However, I used a ton of WD40 to lubricate and moved at a snail's pace…

Pros
  • Straight chip flutes ground for quick chip evacuation and efficient thread cutting
Cons
  • There are even more interesting possibilities.
