Love this magnetic post level

After the hurricane devastated our state and destroyed our entire private hedge. My husband found this article after we were about halfway through building our fence. It's a pity, of course, that I didn't find it at the beginning. This accelerated our project enormously and we ordered several of them. It is worth the little money and of course saves a lot of time and effort. Anyone building a wooden fence or anything with wooden posts will benefit from this purchase.

Great for installing fence posts!

Great for leveling fence posts, simply lay on the post at about eye level for good visibility and secure the elastic around the post and also around this unit where the elastic attaches to this magnetic aligner. Stay in place and hold it there, make sure the bubbles are always between the lines and take your time in the middle while setting your posts in cement or whatever whatever you do to make it work great as advertised!

Pros
  • Lots of fun
Cons
  • Low maintenance

There aren't enough magnets for round bars.

Purchased to install a 2-3/8" round post steel fence in my yard. The magnets are not strong enough to hold the posts as a round post lacks surface area compared to a square one. The weight alone makes it slide down the bar. how long does it last And where can I find replacement rubber bands that size that don't force me to buy a 100-pack? I'd be happy to pay a few euros more for one with stronger magnets. It is a good quality typical Irwin tool.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons

Magnets barely stick to the pole - keep looking

Barely passable. It's pretty hard to mess up something so simple, but the magnets are so sticky they probably won't stick to the galvanized chain link fence post as intended. Half the time it will just fall, sometimes you have to release it carefully and be careful not to hit it or it will land on the ground. I expected more from Irwin. There is an elastic band to hold it, but that belies the simplicity and convenience of having magnets on it. I could buy a cheap one in HD with a rubber band…

Difficult to read in dark colors, the strip is VERY thin.

We liked the idea of a magnet to hold the level on a metal stand, but were concerned that you would still need tape to secure the level to keep the level from sliding on the stand. (We think a stronger magnet might help.) We also bought the non-magnetic GloOrange for comparison. The non-magnetic look (different brand) was with a much stronger tape. At this level, we valued the thicker bar over the thin one. We found that with this level we had to add a rubber band to the level as we were very…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

I found this works great for my little project. I only needed this to level some 4x4 wooden posts that were used to fence off a patio. It was very accurate and easy to use and I am very happy with the results. You can hold it on the stand with your hand to check the level on the spot, or attach it to the stand for easy hands-free checking of the level. It's plastic and very light, which is good, but not sure how well it will hold up in a pro's toolbox. Not something I'd just carelessly throw in

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
