Meets needs at a reasonable price

This is a great product for people who work with hardware that can be damaged by serrated jaws. Adjustment is quick, but there is a risk of accidental pressing. It's a dedicated tool for special needs if you're willing to put up with some fuss.

Pros
  • Pleasing
Cons
  • Some bugs

Adjustable wrench preferred

Works well. I found an unexpected use for getting coax cable out of my over-tight cable box. I wish I had bought them sooner rather than ruining some of the fixings with a regular wrench and cloth that acts as a barrier. I bought the 8" version and will probably get the 10" version as well.

  • Weight
Cons
  • Generally ok but...

Just spend your extra money on knipex

Well I've been using Kniped and Gadore pliers for a long time and I really liked them. I was hoping it would be similar to the Vice grips on Cobras, but they are poorly made. I would happily spend more for a better product but that doesn't show how useful the pliers are. In general. Irwen had a chance to make a killer budget version of wrenches and it failed. I hope they will be revised soon

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Useless features

Great DIY rotary tool

A great addition to any tool collection. Not much about how to set it up online. Rather than finding a mortise as with channel locks, you press a button on the hinge to move it up or down to the size you want, or press it down to the size of a nut, then release the handle and squeeze together. It tightens, the handles converge, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch. The more you push to turn the nut, the tighter it becomes. I would recommend it to an expert or professional DIY or mechanic.

Very pretty smooth sponges

I have two of these, the regular one with shells and the smooth ones. It is well made and works. It's easy to use. The price is very good. The lips aren't super smooth like the more expensive model, but that's okay. I've been using channel locks for many years, but I really prefer them. If you're working on plumbing or screws you don't want to scratch, that's great. If you're not familiar with the blocking mechanism, there are some great videos out there. I just click the button and installโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Heavy duty finish
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Unusable out of the box

I bought this tool after having enjoyed working with the Knipex parallel model. Knipex costs 4 times as much and I had to find out if Irwin was really 4 times worse. First it needs a little tweaking before it can be used. My jaws had very sharp edges that needed to be ground down. That's pretty odd considering the purpose of this tool is nickel plated valve nuts. I use it to tighten nuts in heavy duty wire harnesses. For that, it works exceptionally well compared to a regular adjustable wrench.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Bad experience

If you use them every day, bite the bullet and buy a knipex

I'm a bit torn, I really liked them for working with brass fittings (I work in the propane industry ) and worked great! Much better than a crescent/adjustable wrench. So it's a really good idea, but they broke about the 10th time I used them. I'd say they're probably fine for a light user, worked great with light stuff on my mower but weren't at all suited for use with anything heavy. inferior quality. If you use them every day, bite the bullet and buy a Knipex.

Surprisingly effective

These pliers are relatively thin and make you wonder how useful they would be, but that thinness actually gives them an advantage when grabbing screws in hard-to-reach places. Channel locking mechanism fits a variety of sizes. These tongs definitely punch above their weight. However, the key lock is a bit difficult to master. I really wish the pens were a little smaller so they're more comfortable to carry and you can make corrections on the fly. If you need to go back to the store to get aโ€ฆ

Manual clamping but holds well

The packaging says not to trap hands. I have a version that looks like regular channel blockers and I like it; in whichever position the handles are not pinched. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way why they would do it. When I first opened the package, I moved my jaws to the minimum position and squeezed the handles, expecting them to be the same as the other version, and ended up with half my palm between the handles. It seems to be done mostly on the smallest settings only. Also, I'veโ€ฆ
