Great for creating black and gray!

I love jacquard acid dyes. I'm in love with this black because it produces a fantastic neutral black and even with very little dye produces some great grays with no weird warm or cold overtones. Black is very difficult to mix without purple or brown undertones but I am very happy with this dye. I dye 100% wool yarn and this gives a great gray at a weight of 0.1% for a very light gray to 0.8%. for medium/dark charcoal. At 6 wt% dye I had a deep black. Even with very little dye, I don't see any…

Black Back

This was my first attempt at dyeing and was dyed with two pairs of 85% nylon/15% spandex compression leggings that were already dark. Before purchasing I didn't read enough about how much paint I would need and figured that one bottle wouldn't be enough. However, the dry weight of the fabric was 11.4 ounces, so the 1/2 ounce bottle of paint contained 4% to 4.5%, which is recommended. Works incredibly well on silk. I have two light silver gray pillowcases that I wanted to dye a darker charcoal and after reading some of the reviews I figured using less of the black color would work well. Some of the Jet Black reviews say it doesn't absorb very well - I suspect people using the dye may be unaware of the true fiber content of what they are dying. This dye only works well with natural fibers - my 100% silk pillowcases took on color in a few minutes. The instructions indicate…
