They appear to be slightly larger than OEM.

They appear to be only slightly larger than the original pads, both in width and thickness, making them difficult to install. Once I installed them, the thickness tended to get in the way of the brake. I have replaced my pads with other pads many times and have found it easier with others. I don't think I'll try these again.

Pads too thick

Exactly what others say about these pads. They are overly elaborately made and let them spin on the rotor with no fixable (other than how to file them). Also, on my Guide TL brakes, there's no way to adjust them on the brake lever, so the brakes don't slick before gripping at a stop. To be honest, and unfortunately next time I'll probably go the other way :(

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Compatibility

Well made, very good stopping power.

Very strong, excellent stopping power, fits perfectly without effort, everything you need to replace old pads is included in the kit. Loud when wet but retains stopping power, which is what you need for mountain biking. If you don't like noise, get organic pads, but be prepared to replace the pads twice a year or even more often (depending on usage). Organic pads are quiet but lack the stopping power of metal pads.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Super THICK on the brake parts

They go great with my SRAM GLIDE brakes but the Jagwire pads are very thick! I had to sharpen them a lot to allow the rotor to pass freely between them. They don't wear out faster than OEM SRAM pads. Time will tell, but they stop in dry, fast, wet and steep conditions. I've been riding her hard for the past month! 3 stars because you grind the pads to fit. I feel like I wasted my money and time paying for SRAM OEM pads.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Better than pads OEM

I've been using these pads for a few months now after the stock Elixir pads have become so worn that I can justify replacing them. This is a good summer pillow. Very quiet and controlled performance. Much better than factory upholstery. They howl when they get wet, but only until they dry, and then they're smooth and quiet again. I'll try a different mix in the rainy season hoping to get something that doesn't howl when wet, but these are my favorites for the summer.

Perfect. the best in cycling

I had no problems with these pads; quiet, durable and minimal wear of the brake disc rotor. 2011 Giant Anthem X1 with Avid Elixir R brakes, 180mm IceTech front, 160mm IceTech rear. I have Jagwire pads on the rear and Koolstop Porcupads on the front. This combination withstands our very fast fire roads and steep 30% gradients, frantic corners and weirdly steep trails. I've tried several other pad and rotor combinations from Avid and Ashima, including Shimano XT's own brakes, and this setup…

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Good pads for Avid Elixir 5

These pads fit well and work well. I haven't had any noise issues and braking performance is fine. I had trouble installing the pads, but it turned out the problem was that I had too much brake fluid. This was easily remedied by unscrewing the bleed screw on the master cylinder and draining a drop or two of brake fluid. This allowed the calipers to retract a little more, giving me the extra clearance I needed. If you're new to hydraulic disc brakes, they're difficult to set up at first, but…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Nothing here
