I wish I had looked more closely

Sizing is correct in the post but I didn't pay much attention to it when purchasing. It works really well, I made sauerkraut the day after I got it and it turned out great! I was not deceived, but inattentive. I would like 3-4 times more. To be clear, I am 47 years old and have been a professional chef since high school. So. I'm used to cooking things in bulk. If you're fermenting a small number of things, or maybe want to test recipes, this is perfect.

  • Regular price

SO FUNNY! Great! (Now I need another one)

What a fun little gadget and so perfect for that little marinade I like to make sometimes. I've finally found a GREAT and EASY FAST marinade recipe that's REALLY DELICIOUS in just five minutes and then a half hour, and the longer you sit after that the better if you can keep your hands off it. I can't share it here because it's copyrighted, but I'll give you a link if you want. SO FUNNY! AND SO EASY! Update: Before I could cook the new pickles I was planning to make with this one, an idiot…

Exactly what I was looking for

This Tsukemono Press (aka Oshinko) is perfect for making small batches of Japanese-style pickles. Cheap enough I bought two. I've used them 6 times now and they seem to be holding up well. I put them in the dishwasher with glasses on the top shelf and had no problems. The plastic is strong. The spring provides the necessary pressure to release water without crushing soft vegetables such as eggplant or cucumber. The lid is screwed tight. Has a fill line so you know how much to add so the spring…

i really like it in containers

I use it for the first time for lacto fermentation of vegetables from the garden. I pureed tatsoi cruciferous vegetables with salt (3 tablespoons per 5 pounds as recommended by wildfermentation.com, so only about 1-1/2 teaspoons for the amount that fits in this tsukemono press). I tried it and it seemed too salty to me so I added MORE greens, I had to lower the lid hard but it caught and held. Anyway the greens have produced enough liquid to cover them and the spring in this press keeps the…

As expected on Food Containers

Enough. Yes, it's really small. And it's true that spring is a bit weak. The size was fine for me though, just right for getting fresh cabbage etc more often (rather than making a large batch which spoils sooner). it is eaten). Unfortunately, my kale went bad the first time. I don't know if the airflow isn't enough or if it was one of those bad batches that happen from time to time. Personally, the spring did a fair job of keeping it below the fluid line. It was very cheap so I wasn't expecting
