This paper is a good introduction to calligraphy. Boxes allow you to write your characters evenly. The paper works as intended for the most part, but there is a smearing/bleeding effect when using the ink and brush. Another issue I had was that the first 25 pages had a small hole in it when the paper arrived. It didn't really matter to me because the sides were meant to be used as practice anyway. However, I know that some people would like to know.

I bought this practice sheet for my son to help him practice writing various Japanese characters. He was happy with the paper because it helped him develop the correct proportions for each stroke and improve the consistency of each character. He appreciates grid lines because they encourage him to widen his strokes instead of being too narrow. We will buy this paper again when this batch is gone. As a beginner, the son is very satisfied!
