Very nice design, the best bilge pumps

Very nicely made with high quality switch design. In the near future I will be replacing all bilge pump switches with them.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • So-so

Bad wiring diagram

The switch itself looks good enough, but I have 2 problems with this product: 1. The wiring diagram that comes with it is REALLY BAD! 2. The fuse for the holder is not provided. Which glass fuse size is required? Maybe I just didn't have a backup.

Pros
  • Trial period for one year

Bad direction but works

This unit took up more space than I wanted but it was designed for Johnson pumps. The instructions do not cover the entire installation. Thanks to the reviewer's guidance, I was able to successfully connect the pump to the panel. The manual panel switch is designed to only function for as long as it is physically pressed. Would have given 5 stars if the instructions weren't incomplete.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Hard to say

The connection instructions are not the best.

switch is ok. The thread of the fuse holder was too short for the nut. I had to hold myself with silicone. If you're going to use this with a Johnson Unltima pump, let me make your life easier. Jumper wires are numbered. Connect as follows. Wire #1 to the 12 volt power supply is always hot on the boat. Wire number 2 to the minus of the boat. Wire #3 to the black wire on the Unima pump. Connect wire #4 and #5 to brown wire on Ultima Pump. #6 wire to brown and white wire on Ultima pump. That'sโ€ฆ

Cool switch! on Boat Plumbing

First there are some comments on this without the fuse. This is because you need to purchase fuses specific to your bilge pump. The larger the pump, the higher the amperage, so they differ. Glass fuses are easy to find wherever fuses are sold. The only thing I didn't like was that the manufacturer used old tape and it was a nightmare to remove from the fuse holder. I think they used it to make sure the lid didn't come off. Also removing the plastic layer from the bezel was again difficult whenโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Consistent results when testing
Cons
  • Not happy with everything

Great bilge switch!

Great switch. The switch itself works well and the tolerance is lower than cheaper switches. Very well designed. I think it's for Johnson Pumps, although my pump is a different brand that was wired differently (three wires with built-in float switch). I finally found that if I didn't connect the "Switch Positive" cable to anything, it worked great. The LED lights up in MANUAL mode and in AUTOMATIC mode only when the pump is running. The schematic/instructions might not be too intuitive if likeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not bad

I really wanted the combo

I really wanted to like the Johnson 750 gph/mag float switch pump combination paired with a Johnson brand bilge switch panel. The panel is pre-assembled, so it should be perfect and easy to install. Right? No! First, there was a QA bug with the panel wiring. The 2 pins missed the blade pins and were held in place by the pressure of the plastic insulator. Two of the wires were unmarked. Second, the only instructions that came with the panel were for the Ultima switch, not the magnetic floatโ€ฆ
