Cheap metal bends in the lock

It's built into the screen door of our camper van and we hardly ever use it. I purchased this lock on December 12, 2016 and installed it on December 22, 2016. On May 2nd, 2017 the metal part inside that pressed the lock button has bent and now the door can be opened. It's cheap pot metal that broke out of my fingers trying to straighten it out again. And now the product from the same seller is almost 60% more expensive. revenge

  • nice little thing

Worked 05 Southwind, Atwood Door

I wonder how long it has been since the pusher broke between the knob and the latch lever. The screen door was stuck when both doors were latched together and I figured it was the latch and replaced it. It wasn't until the mesh doorknob broke that I took it apart and found the broken part inside. It's almost an exact match. I had to reuse the factory handle, it's a little flatter than the original and the screen didn't snag on the main door.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • weak

I had to make a small bushing out of sheet metal. The metal on the shank is very soft so it can be cut off if it needs adjustment, but it's barely enough to make contact. After working with the lock a few times, it broke and won't turn off anymore. I managed to lock myself out of the RV after installing it. It was the highest tier among other castle sets available, which was very disappointing. I'm not sure if any of the cheaper ones work better. I hope the little sleeve I made stays in place…

Good door latch but terrible LOCK

I bought a used camper van without a key. To lock it for short absences I bought this door lock. It was easy to assemble and fit well. BUT - did I mention that I wanted to FINISH the camper for a short time? This is a fall. It worked at first (note the past tense). However, when my wife forgot that the latch was locked and pressed harder on the outer button, it still opened and now the locking function is not blocked. I wasn't expecting the door lock to fully protect the pop up camper (just…

Exact replacement, slightly tricky to install

I bought this because the was not installed correctly on my new motorhome. There's a little rod that pushes the inside latch when the outside button is pushed, and it was badly mangled by the guys at the RV factory. It was a good and accurate replacement, but I quickly realized why the first one was installed poorly - it's quite difficult to cut this rod to the desired length. The trick is to make it long enough to make it work - too long and the latch won't work properly, too short and the…
