so simple and seems so much safer

No cables to plug in (which may limit functionality if you want to use it to test cables instead of sockets). Powers 3-pin sockets only; I haven't tried it with an adapter to a two-pin socket. You can test regular sockets and GFIC sockets. So easy to read. But more than that - it checks a few things: - it gives you the exact voltage so you can make sure it's not just powered, it's properly powered - it tells you if the outlet is plugged in properly (e.g. polarity, neutral, hot, ground, etc.)…

Broke after 15 minutes

I usually use another well-known brand socket tester, but I chose this tester because it has an additional voltage display function. I've recently completed a lot of electrical work and had to test a lot of outlets. I started using this tester and everything was fine for the first few sockets. (A well-wired outlet will indicate that the first 2 of 3 lights are lit on the tester. Any other configuration and the outlet is miswired.) After testing the first half dozen outlets, I noticed that only…

Amazing socket tester priced at

Totally amazed by this tester. First let me say that it happened very quickly and as described. At first I was a bit concerned because the price was low. So it arrived today and I immediately started testing. As a trained electrician, I had my doubts. So I plugged it into my house outlet. Knowing my outlets were wired correctly, he did exactly what I should have expected and properly tested. Even shows volts on the digital display. Now I went to my garage and on my dyno I was able to create a…

Low price and ease of use.

This gauge shows me 129 VAC. When I test the same outlet with TWO different DMMs (a high quality Amprobe AMP-320 and a cheap Walmart E-Sun DMM), BOTH DMMs read 126VAC. Not a huge difference, but still a difference. I use this in my RV and every RV should have and use basic electrical testers BEFORE connecting to a power pole, ESPECIALLY camping power poles. The non-contact voltage detector (NCVT) included in this kit is one of the essential tools. AFTER the second power socket test with a DMM…

Hot neutral. good for electrics

These items are amazing. I bought a Klein Digital Circuit Breaker Finder (also great) but both of those tools saved me from potential damage and the outlet tester has replaced my Klein outlet tester because the front panel display also reads voltage. I was helping a friend with a new build/retro building (1950s), replacing 3 pin kitchen outlets with dual AFCI/GFCI outlets and quickly figuring out why his microwave is frying. We learned that the "grounded 3 pin sockets" were not actually…
