Description of 🐦 20-Pound Kaytee Black Oil Sunflower Bird Food for Wild Birds

The high-oil content is a great source of energy and the thin hulls make it easier for birds to eat. Kaytee Black Oil Sunflower seed is triple cleaned to minimize debris from harvest. Provides premium, top quality seeds with less waste. Can be fed in a hopper or platform feeder.

High quality planting material for birds

Fast delivery. Always high quality seed that never spoils. This pouch usually lasts about two months for my feeders. I've never had any errors like some other brands.

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • Low maintenance

Lost in the birds

Birds will eat. You are happy, I am happy. Besides the seeds, there is something else like small twigs, wood chips and the like. But not so much that it really bothers me or the birds.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • A little loose change

Moth larvae in my seed bag

I will not buy this item again. My seeds are full of moth larvae and now they are hatching. This was at least the third time I have purchased this item. Never had any problems with this bag. It's been a while and I found the maggots at the bottom of the bag after using it for a few months. This is very disappointing though and I will be looking elsewhere for my birdseed now.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons

There was a lot (in June) and the birds and critters loved it

Puppy, Southern California native birds love it when they get it in front of my resident squirrel family who REALLY love it! It was fun being creative enough to feed some of the birds before fattening up the furry villagers. In June (20th) it was a $34 bag, now it's a $51 bag so I'll live without one for a while hoping the squirrels have enough stashed away for the winter. I will not support a price increase of $20 per bag for 2 months.

  • New
Cons
  • Not the best

The birds love it! (That counts)

Looks good. The birds love it! I've seen at least a dozen different bird species eat these sunflower seeds. There is a small amount of dirt in the bag (pieces of wood and pebbles) but that is not a problem for the birds or for me. Buying a large bag of sunflower seeds of any brand is a must. No potential harm to them. Birds simply take the pieces out of the feeder themselves. If you have never eaten seeds, the seeds are in the shell. Like humans, birds open the shell, eat the seed, and then…
