Excellent food for small birds

I use these seeds to fill my outdoor bird feeders. It is constantly visited by grieving doves and smaller birds (finches, sparrows, etc.), but it does not attract raptors (blue jays, etc.). I have a regular pair of mourning doves so it's good to keep their eggs and chicks away from predators. And with this seed there is no waste, only chaff after they eat the whole seed. The best option for clean friendly birdhouses!

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Great price and my parrots love it. No extra garbage.

My parrots love it. It doesn't clog my feeders with weird things that other manufacturers "supplement" in their feeds that my birds cleverly avoid and throw on the cage floor. What are those little colored pieces? vitamins? Captain Crunch? We'll never know. But the birds just need the no-frills bird seed. That's all. In 10 years if I pass this batch, (j/k) I will definitely buy again. ;-)

The birds are happy and so am I!

Great price ($11 paid) and not fancy stuff my birds won't eat anyway. It looks very simple but no artificial coloring and extra seeds! The birds are happy and so am I! You might want to get a seed basket as the bag is large and has an industrial look. To keep the seeds close to the cage I bought a large corked jar that looks nice and is handy for filling up and I keep the rest of the seeds.

  • Lots of positive vibes

Great Value at $25 Save $5 on Kaytee

This food seems to be my English budgies favorite food. There are no oddly colored patches. All of these foods are edible. The bag came white with a tag. The food was very fresh and clean. I store all budgie food in 5 gallon food grade pails with screw tight lids (see Gamma Seal Lids). The feed seems to be holding up well. I usually add some food grade diatomaceous earth to keep food dry and moth proof (available at Revain). This isn't the only food I offer. My budgies also love a variety of…

Great for garden birds in Northern California

I bought these seeds for my garden feeder. I have researched carefully and tried different types of seeds and brands. I have now found that using these seeds in one large feeder and black sunflower in another is the perfect combination for a Northern California (Modesto area) backyard. There is very little waste as there are virtually no "garbage" seeds in this seed. I was a pet store manager and poultry farmer a long time ago; Kaytee was and still is a great brand. The seeds arrived on time…

Hm, really not the best. Good in a pinch.

The food itself is ok. There are not many seed varieties. They spray the seeds with orange oil so the seeds smell VERY strongly of orange peel. I'm not exactly sure why they do this - birds are naturally ready to eat seeds and don't need unnecessary additives of chemicals or oils. Millet seeds, which make up 90%, are larger than millet seeds or what I've seen. in other brands like Volkman. It is almost as large as the large white sorghum used for wild birds. I don't know if that's good or bad…

Pros
  • Decent performance

Cheap seeds, you get what you pay for.

If they would just stop after the first 3 items on the ingredients list I could use this "seed" blend. Do yourself a favor, check out this list. I mean really look at this list. Then take a close look at what the budgie/parrot needs in its diet. I can guarantee that after the first 3 ingredients it's not crap. You get what you pay for when it comes to pet health. The sad truth is that there is no seed mix on the market that is 100% pure. Although budgerigars and cockatiels are new parrots that…
