KeepKey Simple Cryptocurrency Hardware Wallet Review

This device is completely turnkey. Connect, update, initialize and use. Use without problems on PC and MAC. Nothing fancy, but that's its beauty and elegance. I would be interested in an Android + OTG cable solution for mobile use. UPDATE: The included USB cable is pretty good - covered in fabric. Mine broke down and they quickly FedEx me two replacement units. So their support seems very responsive too.

The device does not work as a normal hardware wallet, it requires the use of their website. So if they go broke, you're screwed. Also, they don't support ERC20 coins as advertised. At least not what I've seen. I use XLM and some other coins and couldn't find a way to use them with my wallet. In addition, the wallet itself simply stores certificates and reads information from its website. If a price is too good to be true, there's a reason!

This product sounds good in concept but is really terrible in application. Takes your BTC instantly, but when you transfer BTC to other accounts, KeepKey app just freezes. Nothing happens. Also, tech support is the absolute worst when these products don't work. Tech support gives scripted rubbish for answers, only after weeks of complaining both on Facebook and emailing directly to KeepKey did they reply with apologies and other pre-scripted rubbish for solutions which we've already tried…

The product is missing some really important features. I would mainly talk about the missing value. The counterweight is your value displayed in USD (or other fiat currency). If you have 0.938340 Bitcoin, 1.38473 Ethereum and 7.3473 Litecoin, you have no idea how much you have. You should find out by going to a conversion site. As a longtime bitcoin enthusiast, KeepKey first caught my attention in 2016 when I heard about some of its unique features on a bitcoin podcast.
