As you can see from my photo this 1 gallon pail weighs 4.1 pounds but one gallon = 8.3 pounds. Therefore it is misleading in the product listing and all the weights in the specs are wrong as well.

Great thing. Essential for the health of your aquariums. I like the big chunks as they are much easier to handle and easier to hold in the filter cartridges without going through them. The water looks great! Highly recommended!

The charcoal I use does two things. First, it's reasonable durability as most decent carbon is a bit pricey.
