Pretty decent speakers.

For the money you pay for these speakers I have nothing to complain about. They reproduce a very clear sound - without distortion. I installed them in a Nissan Versa which is a complete mess for stock speakers. In comparison, it was a significant improvement. Are you looking for something inexpensive to fit into a similar type of car? Be sure to get these.

crappy speakers

$25 speakers, don't expect much. . decided to try them. These $25 speakers are better than the old torn paper speakers. that's all. the tweeter sounds good. woofer sucks tinny and can't stand bass. I will return them. but I have posted pictures of using Chevy Equinox in 2016. ALSO they aren't real 6 1/2". Smaller than usual. 6.5 measures 5.25 center surround. That's 4.75".

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • No instructions

Great speakers good for car radio

Used them for the front doors of the car then ordered 2 more for the back doors as they were so good. Kenwood is a good name, but I was wondering what I'd get for $24 a pair. I had to solder to replace the original in the car (not a problem for me but you have to be able to solder). I didn't care if the car speaker worked or not, but not for my daughter. It was a useless car until the speakers started working. It's a great car now. The speakers saved the car - would you believe it? take action.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel

A very good upgrade for the Honda Element.

Factory speakers were fine but sounded lifeless so I went in search of speakers. After a long search I decided on the Kenwoods. I'm glad I did. Very easy to install and I also added some sound deadening rings. I chose the cheapest rings. A few euros less and they work perfectly. Also get fast connection. Forget about splicing wires. It is much easier. Anyway, after installing them I turned them on and they sounded really good. Much better than OEM. I believe that ANY aftermarket is better thanโ€ฆ

Be careful with plugs. Otherwise decent speakers

I bought these as I've always been a fan of Kenwood. While I think they don't sound as good as they should, I have to keep in mind that the place they're installed may not have the right type of "enclosure" for which they're supposed to sound optimal. Generally good. Poorly. When connecting the wires to the knife terminals, be careful not to apply too much pressure without finding a third hand for extra support. Of the many speakers I've installed over the years, this is the first time I'veโ€ฆ

You get what you paid for

I had to remove the door panel on our van and I noticed that the speaker foam from the original Toyota door speakers was completely rotted. I ordered these Kenwoods because they were reasonably priced and I figured anything with a reputable brand name like Kenwood should sound better than a 19 year old speaker that has rotted away. Well, to be honest, I was wrong. The original rotten speaker had much more bass and a more dynamic sound. These Kenwoods reproduce less detail in the music and haveโ€ฆ

Very happy with my 2007 Honda Element

I installed 4 of these on my 2007 Honda Element about 3 weeks ago. They fit well and, with the help of the correct wiring harnesses, rebuilt the Honda plugs (which cost $8 for the plugs) with no problems. I had to drill different holes but the plastic was tough and forgiving. Note the length of the drill bit, you only need a depth of about 0.5" - there's a window mechanism in there somewhere. The sound is rich yet precise, with clear highs and a full mid-range. The bass is tight and not overlyโ€ฆ

You will need an install kit unless.

This is for a 2010 RAV4 with a non-JBL factory radio. Drilling through 3 rivets and removing the factory speaker enclosures will make the remaining door opening too large for those speakers. Yankee Ingenuity's answer is to cut the original speaker around the perimeter with a utility knife, trim the remaining plastic supports/wires with side pliers and a flat file to wash away the remains. It's easier than it looks. Then awake. from what fell in the door. This housing has a two piece plasticโ€ฆ
